neems 2,406
What was yours? And for those who have them, what dogs have you got for your kids first dog? Mine was a mongrel/lurcher that a neighbour found outside the local chippy, she was in a bad way and ended up having to be pts a year or so later. But she was mine to look after while she was here, rather than being a family dog. My lad wants a Mastiff or Wolfhound, but I've assured him there's a very slim chance of that,I'll probably get him a spaniel or lab (or better yet one of those crossed with a terrier) so he can get out with me and the lurcher with it. Yeah start small,we've had a couple of hamsters and my oldest was good with them, cleaned them out regularly etc So I'll let him have a dog in the next couple of years if he's still as keen.

neems 2,406
I've always like the whippets and whippet x's,could see them being good first running dog for a youngster. Always fancied a whirrier of some type myself, but just never really had the space for one.
