forest of dean redneck 12,022
Don't buy a cheap new one, quality will be awful, look on ebay or gumtree etc an find a tidy Raleigh or a mission ,I had a mission 6 speed,it had 16 inch wheels so could change tyres for kids bikes ones get off road patterns and used to ride forestry tracks with it. walshie 2,804
That's exactly what I was going to say. Buy the best you can afford. Cheap ones are heavy, hard to ride and you'll end up binning it.

gamerooster 1,179
Unless youve got a smart car you can fit a bike in most cars, you can remove the front wheel on a lot of them now and as bird said theyre built to last and a lot lighter, plenty of cheap secondhand ones on ebay to

gnasher16 31,426
Why limit yourself with a fold up bike when theres all these fancy brackets to fit on the back of motors these days.....when in Cyprus i whack the bike on the back of the motor and f**k off up into the hills its a lovely sense of freedom so i get the need to have a bike in the car but from what ive seen most of them fold up ones are crap. dytkos 17,935
Buying a bike can really be a minefield if you dont know much about them, if you know someone whose into cycling have a word and theyll give you some tips or go into your local independent bike shop, not halfords etc and tell them what you need, they should fit you out with the correct gear hopefully. Dont be fooled by hydraulic brakes and fancy gripshifters, you get what you pays for, get one with a decent frame and wheels it will last a lifetime. HTH Cheers, D.
