philpot 5,122
I had planned to spend a few hours at the RFD range today where my Impact is sat waiting for my ticket to return. I have bought a small selection of .25 pellets to try but the session had to be a brief one as the range was closing early and so only 40mins to try the pellets. Before anybody says it...............................25mt is far too short a distance for an FAC rifle but it is all I can do for now. Not too happy with my bipod arrangement just yet but that is something I can spend time with when the gun is at home with me. Anyway, these are the pellets on test A very quick run on each pellet with 8 shots per spot. The left hand side is at 45ft/lb and the right hand side is 25ft/lb Some close up shots I have to say that I am not happy yet but I am getting there. The power and pellet size just fcuks paper target so I need to get some decent card as the paper just rips but it offers me playtime for now. AA Fields and H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme look to be the best at this range and I will not be buying any more Bis Pest Control or H&N Grizzly.................well the group is pretty grizzly. David.evans 5,323
Phil With your tests so far , 45 looks to be the best , I think that your doing your self tho there mate,,and would zero When you get the chance at 60 yards , And is 45 the optimum f/lbs for .25 ? Only asking mate cause I don't know I can't wait till it's all sorted for you , cause I'll be looking at fac air very soon , and .25 might suit me for my style of shooting So please get it sorted , lol, Atb mate Dave Quote Link to post
philpot 5,122
I know the results may change when it gets out to 60mt but until my FAC variation comes back, I am stuck with the RFD's own 25mt range. 45ft/lb is the the max power for .25 and is the optimum power setting as far as I know. There is some tweeking available to the user but until I am able to take the bugger out to the big boys range, there is no point messing around with it at present. If I buy the .22 barrel kit, I found out that the kit changes the power to the optimum for .22 which is 30ft/lb ish so a new set set of power bands are then available.which I think may well give between perhaps 15 - 30ft/lb at the turn of a switch. I will be going over to Humberside Shooting Ground as soon as my ticket comes back. Stealthy............................................ MickC 1,825
I'm not 100% but pretty sure I read on one of the forums that the JSB (25gn) and AA pellets are the same pellet made by JSB and just rebadged for AA. Edited February 23, 2017 by MickC Quote Link to post

Your kinda correct mick. JSB produce the lead for air arms, but they are different, perhaps microscopically, air arms have there own dies. Quote Link to post
philpot 5,122
Yes spot on Rez. With big pellets like these, you can actually see the difference in finish between JSB Kings and AA Fields so perhaps some tin antimony in one of them to change hardness of the lead. I will have a go at a couple of photo's to show what the eye can just see but not now, I'm off to sleepy byes. Phil Edited February 23, 2017 by philpot Quote Link to post
