Keep them in kennels till the kids are grown,,,, And at the risk of repeating myself,,,,,your average dog is 50 lbs of muscle and teeth,,,,no match for most children spot on tomo , there bloody animals not humans , they should be in a kennel /run not in the house. your right right mate, just watch your average size dog as you say 50lb dog, chop on a beef bone, they brake them up easy.Buck crunches them and eat the buggers lol, he big soft thing with people/kids, and good with dogs, but he be to dangerous at his size if he wasn't , and its smaller type dogs/breeds that have attacked people/kids , and child got no chance against a norm size dog never mind a powerful/fit dog. i was brought up with bull breeds as kid , ive said on here before , our s were outside 24/7 only loosed out with my old man there, never had any probs. i hate to read about kids getting hurt by dogs, there be no need if people used there feckin brains, and kept the dogs in kennel+ run sad day again II 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Was the dog raised as a pup? Have they just bought the animal? Was it known to be aggressive by the family? Was the child left alone? The one difficult point is some dogs that are fine animals can attack a baby and seem to not realise it's a human whereas others can be protective of them, apparently the Japanese used to let their Akitas babysit while they left the home. The third the amount and types of crosses being attempted without people understanding, traits, temperaments and possible negative traits and outcomes in such crosses. Dog ownership as well as parental responsibilities are a serious job and should have some compulsory type of supervised training in the initial stages. Keep them in kennels till the kids are grown,,,, And at the risk of repeating myself,,,,,your average dog is 50 lbs of muscle and teeth,,,,no match for most children I'm going to disagree with you there tomo though can undersatnd your thinking,but it's all to easy keep a dog on a chain or kenneled ,then it's sat frustrated at people it can't mix with and then it could one day get loose an snap, I've kept dogs kenneled in past but mainly as the missus wasn't keen on them,and we were pushed for space as small house with big garden ,now we got bigger house smaller garden and with thefts of dogs sooner they were indoors as well.I think lot of problems temperment ,to many Young dogs bred or dogs that are unsound, we had young kids again and I had problems with my hands ,wifes walking with a stick so sensibly stayed away from big dogs .but we had the rotty an 2 American Bulldogs here in past. Bring up in the house hold ,feed them socialise them an don't beat them couldn't want for a more loyal companion dog.
