Parking Eye

You can appeal if you feel the fine is disproportionate.

I.e being charged £100 for overstaying by 20 mins.

I've had 2 overturned. You have to be pretty clued up on the laws and regulations when you write your letter or make the call.

They won't want it to go to court so keep that in mind.

That will get dropped mate. Can you send them an invoice to prove that you're working on the land?

The service station should be able to contact private eye on your behalf.

We used to get them all the time when doing work for the casinos. They had 2 hour limit and the staff would just send the registration off to the private eye company.

As said above I've had a couple of genuine ones since, when I've pulled in for a kip, and had them over turned by arguing that the fine was disproportionate to the amount I overstayed. It took a few letters back and forth but never made it to court.

F**k em.. They got no legal right to charge you, any letter they send you is merely a letter asking you to pay an amount they'be decided they want you to pay because you've stayed longer than the 'agreed' time they say you can park there free of charge. It amounts to a breech of contract in a small claims court at the very most. Don't even acknowledge them, or if you are of the worrying persuasion and have a conscience, send them a cheque or postal order to cover the amount of time you parked there for. For example, if it costs 8 quid to park for 4 hours and you stayed there for half hour over the agreed free period, send them a cheque for £2..

I've had loads and never paid one, call or write them and tell them to stop as it's becoming harassment and that you're willing to go to court.

Then they usually get a debt recovery company to send letters,do the same with them and it stops.

Or at least it has with me.

They probably didn't mind your car there, but the caravan, washing line, dogs and burnt out vehicles was a bit much.
