Eh up chaps not been on here since 2014   I've finally come to the conclusion that working myself in to an early grave just to try and get ahead a little in life so we can 'follow our dreams' has be

If there's one quote to remember it's:   "You have two lives; the second begins when you realize you only have one".     Good luck, and all the best.......JD

Well Nik, what I can promise you is that at some point, when it's -5 outside and the heating has stopped working and it's pissing down......you will think "what the feck have I done?" Lol.........but it's all good in the end.

When we moved in my house hadn't been lived in for 4 years, no heating and bathroom fecked......water running down the walls and all sleeping under about 5 duvets with our clothes on ! Lol.........has it been worth it?.......hell yes, and when I visit London I realise just how worth it it has all been.

Here's the old copper mine at Parys Mountain. The had an underground mine running there till the 80s. Unfortunately the mine, the bromine plant near Amlwch and the aluminium works have all been shut down taking all the jobs away...good old government eh get everyone dependent on the state and be good little voters for ever more....

Your train of thought resonates with me mate, I came to pretty much the same conclusion......you can't win because they won't let you win so I said "bollocks, I'm taking my ball and not playing anymore!" Lol

I also didn't want to condem my kids to life on that fecking hamster wheel, they will have choices.......I will give them an acre each when they are old enough to build a house which will be theirs.

After that, they can take or leave stuff as they please because they will have a roof over their head that they own......no matter where they go or what they do it will be sitting there waiting.

Giving away half the fruits of your labour for some c**t in Westminster or Brussels to use to make your life worse......no fecking thank you.

Don't look back mate, you are a long time in the graveyard.

Yeh exactly and here's the beauty.....We will get our child benefit back, I wont pay for prescriptions and a free university education for my daughter ha ha ha!! Up yours tax man

I am going to set up a Ltd company with the missus as a director so when I do work we're going to pay F**k all tax....The next time I see some snivelling excuse for a junior doctor crying about his wages and pension that WE pay for I wont feel quite as annoyed lol

Here's home at the moment....I can't even afford french doors in my own house lol

Range rover & a caravan...........you'll be needing a pair of stone lions next......haha

Do you have any plans work wise?

I'll still have to do my old job but at least when I finish we can go and burn off some stress by walking or running or something. As the wife is quiting her job we can do things together when I am not working. Since I dont actually have any work right now we'll survive on my wife's last few wages in the run up to Xmas by which time things should improve, if not we can live on the collateral out of our house for a few more months...one thing is for sure and that is when work comes back I am not going to take every single job.

You are lucky to be able to work from home.

I am sure if you live in a better environment, the work will be less of a concern.

As much as I would like this to be a brave new start it's more self preservation lol I would even go as far to say it's accepting defeat but not in a bad way. I've come to the conclusion that the system is stacked against anyone who is trying to get ahead in life. I've never been very materialistic but holidays and wasteful spending become a necessity so you can justify the sacrifice but when I look at my daughter I feel very guilty. For 7 years of her life I was away for well over half the year and the last 3 years were even worse as I worked even more and spent all my time working in my office or trying to 'de-stress' by drinking.

When I took her to see her new school (only 90 kids ha ha!) I let her do what ever she wanted. Instead of walking the dog first it was rollerblading near the beach, then we went looking for porpoises, on the way back I was talking to a dog walked and my daughter started bellowing down the cliff to someone. Almost about to tell her off for shouting I realised she was talking to a little boy down there so we went down and I told her to go and have a play. I sat on the bench for at least 1 1/2 hours just watching her run around and climb the cliffs etc. It was like a dream come true and what I always imagined for her....talk about having a lump in my throat ha ha :D

So you can't fix the past but I'm determined to salvage what ever is left...we can't have anymore kids so this is it for me. I am also going to try and marry her off to a rich land owner when she is 18 but that's a different story  Why would I convince her to follow our mistakes? Get married to someone nice, have loads of kids and enjoy life....that's the ticket to happiness.

I've promised her a dog so we're going to have a house full of pot lickers soon lol

At least your man enough to admit it mate. Sounds like your life is on the up. Get down to South Stack and throw your beer goggles as far into the sea as you can, never to be seen again  Judging by your surroundings, you have made the right choice . You won't be needing no holidays, your living one :D

i think it is an incredibly brave thing to do, and i wish you all the luck in the world. i would love to just up sticks and move somewhere remote, but always the worry for me is how to make money? i grew up proper dirt poor, and in the back of my mind is always the nagging fear of ending up that way again.if i couldnt find work

That's fair enough matey, all I would ever say to people worried about the money side is........you can be the richest man in the world but you can't buy time.

Something always turns up and if you can bat off the likes of mortgage, council tax blah blah then it's just a case of how big do you want to live.

ATB

you arre quite right of course, and i'm sure that if i made the plunge then i am resourceful and adaptable enough to manage, but having three little ones dependent on my decisions these days is something that i dont take lightly. maybe i need to just have some balls!! seriously i am not in a bad spot nowadays, but it is the fact of being tied to the system that bothers me more than anything.

Nothing to do with balls Beast, you have responsibilities and I think everyone here (me especially with 4 kids of my own) understand mate.

Your alright so why rock the apple cart.

As long as you are happy then there's no reason at all to rock it, that's just good sense.

I only speak personally and I will freely admit that it wouldn't be for everyone mate, nor should it.......your new baby is a cracker by the way, congratulations mate.
