Biggest left wing party in all of Europe with an ever increasing membership, I wouldn't call that sinking

Maybe that's down to all the hard left wing groups now joining labour after years in the wilderness as no candidates from TUSC are banging the drum any more in my area for what its worth imho labour will never get to govern the country in the next election.

Do you really think there was over 300,000 total members of the various hard left groups? Try barely 10,000.

 

The massive amounts of people joining the Labour party recently are just normal everyday folk that Corbyn's politics resonate with, many of them have never been involved in politics before. Go to a local Momentum meeting see how many hard left types you meet, I reckon you'd be quite surprised by the type of folk that are there.

 

No point in attending any of their meetings as I would never vote or become a member of the labour party in a month of sundays.

I just thought if you're going to make sweeping assumptions about the demographics making up the new membership you should go and see the types of folk that have been energised for yourself

What with once nievely being a member of the SWP only for a short time the same people who are in Rotherhams momentum are the same people who are members of the SWP those who were instrementel in a lot of the cover ups in Rotherham's CSE these are the types I do not want to be any were near tbh

What with once nievely being a member of the SWP only for a short time the same people who are in Rotherhams momentum are the same people who are members of the SWP those who were instrementel in a lot of the cover ups in Rotherham's CSE these are the types I do not want to be any were near tbh

 

 

SWP are pure scumbags for a whole host of reasons, don't blame you for having nothing to do with them at all I won't either and they wouldn't have been welcome at any of the few Momentum meetings I've been to. Most Momentum branches have similar feelings towards them so it's a shame and a bit unusual if it's true that they've taken over your local branch...

Not really surprising is it, the Tories are enjoying a new leader bounce and Labour are very publicly tearing themselves apart.

 

Before the failed coup and all the shit flinging in the press Labour were within a few points of the Tories and actually ahead in a few polls.

 

Polls 4 years out from the GE don't really mean much, so much can happen in that time. Of course there is the possibility of an early GE...

Losing the next GE would be a small price to pay for reforming the internal structures of the Labour party but proclaiming that it's a dead certainty based on some polls taken in the middle of an extremely bitter leadership battle is just ridiculous.

Assuming the next GE is in 4 years the political landscape in this country is so unstable at the moment that anyone making solid predictions on the result are pulling them out of their arse.

 

Labour were always going to have an uphill battle in the next GE whoever is leader but Corbyn with his anti Westminster establishment credentials and the huge grassroots movement he's mobilised is clearly doing good things for Labour despite what the political elite and press would have you believe

IMO I remember it well things were a lot worse for a lot of us under Thatcher especialy up this neck of the woods and all labour could do was put an old left wing Trotsky up against Thatcher in M.Foot .I can see a pattern emerging lol
