War Waged On The Bandits

Recommended Posts

Well the blackbirds are on or should I say "were" on their second brood of this year and I have been doing my best to look after 2 nests in the back garden.

4 chicks in each nest which is a nice sight and sound.....until you arrive home from work and find 8 maggies in the pine tree taking turns to mob the nest and generally beat the sh#t out of the parents of 1 of the nests.

I was so Pi*#ed off that I didn't even get the rifle I just flung the window open and shouted something rhyming with punt!!! (Good job we have no neighbours too close although I know they hate them as well!)

After all had calmed down it was obvious they had done both nests in and I'm guessing that at this time of year and by the few downy feathers on 1 maggie that it's a family that's wreaking havoc. .....well not on my watch (although the damage has been bloody done now).

After tea I could still hear them around so opened the kitchen window and waited with a full mag in the hw100 and the legs on the pod fully down so I could easily reach the tree top and the floor.

10 minutes in and 1 maggie came onto an easy branch closely followed by 2 more so I popped the easy one who just seemed to shrug his shoulders and hop 6 inches up then keel over off his perch dead as a dodo.

The second one flew in twitching his tail and giving it 10 nil so he had a lovely head shot, fell forward and is still stuck on a canopy of pine branches which is crap but the wind will fetch him down soon.

The 3rd and final one came about 20 mins just after sunset as a couple came in to see the bodies on the floor and in the tree but no screeching, just sat looking....big mistake and number 3 hit the deck.

Very satisfied at the result and hoping the blackbirds go for it again soon!!

Atb lads.

I am speaking to you from The Cabinet Room of My House. Yesterdays Evening the Ambassador of My Garden handed the Magpie Bandit Government a final note, stating that unless we heard from them that they were prepared at once to withdraw their Bandit troops from harassing the blackbirds nests, a state of war would exist between myself and them.

I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received and that consequently, I am at war with The Magpie Bandits. Hostilities did not take long to commence. Three fatalities have so far been reported on the Bandit side.

Good luck and all the best
