Looks lovely Tomo! Nice to be able to wild camp too.

I reckon I'm gonna have to give this seafood a go. Planning a few mackerel fishing jaunts to start with on Chesil beach.

Yeh I like lobster,,,langustines,,prawns,,muscles,,,,,I now know I don't like crab,,,,what a fecking faf about for a bit of meat that's dry

if the crabmeat was dry its because you overcooked it

I did wonder,,,it said on the net,,,cook a 2lb crab for 20 mins,,,so I guessed it was around that ,,,and did it for 20,,

Might have to try one properly done,,just to see if I like it..

Yeh that's the second place we went to pesky...

My old fella used to take me up there in the 70's when I was a nipper. It felt a lot more remote and untouched than it is now. Still a beautiful part of the world though, especially if you get lucky with the weather.

Same here mate,,family holidays up there from 75 onwards,,,the old a9 from Perth to Inverness was a single track road back then,,,then again from Inverness to gairlock,,,me old man used to work nights regular driving a truck,,,so we would go at night,,so he didn't break his sleep pattern ,,,drive up all night,,nothing on the roads,,,

I've travelled all over the World,....often in places that I should not have been in.... :whistling:

But, one of my most treasured memories was when me and Rosy spent time in the West Coast of Scotland....

We made the journey up one side of the country, to wild and remote Caithness,..then returned slowly back home, via the West Coast...

I can honestly say,..it was a beautiful experience,...full of events,..in fact,..it is worthy of a chapter in a book....

15 to 20 mins for a 2 lb crab tomo but you have to run them under cold water when you take them out because the shell retains a lot of heat and carries on cooking if you don't ,your camping trip looks great .

I remember it well..., we'd leave in the middle of the night to beat the traffic..., springs bottomed out on the old Mk2 Cortina with all the camping gear..., and the kitchen sink thrown in just in case. It was far enough for us to get there from Central Scotland, it must have taken you all night and into the next day to get up there back then.

I first went in the infamous summer of '76. I can barely remember it, but my I think it was my mum's all time favourite memory of us as kids and being a family. Right after she died, a good few years ago now, I wanted to get away for a few days and naturally headed to Sutherland. I took my then girlfriend (now mother of my kids) to Achmelvich. The weather was amazing and we lay on the white sand and swam in the turquoise sea. I had a chuckle at Gnasher's comment, because that's exactly what my missus said..., that she couldn't believe she was in Scotland, and that it was more like the Bahamas :D

Part of me would love to take my kids to camp at the beach at Clachtoll one day, but I know from having driven past it a few years back that it's changed quite a bit with the holiday cottages, and all the work they done planting up the machair. Not sure how I'd feel if it'd changed too much. Great place with some great memories for me, so thanks for sharing your snaps.
