Coat Preference

I prefer a hard, rough jacket on a dog. They're a ballache to shave over the summer but that aside they're ideal for a working dog IMO. Also they hide any working marks a lot better than a smooth.

Nothing worst then a rough coated dog balled up with clay/muck trying to push on, smooths all the way if I could choose..

Dense smooth for me or a hard coated one..Rough are a total pain here as they end up covered in balls of clay..Also like thick skinned ones too many have a thin skin like whippets a no no

I prefere a rough coated type with some face furnishings don't look as worn around the face as a smooth few seasons down the line,I wouldn't have one with a linty type coat mind,ones I see like that seem to get cut up around arse tails when in a tight spot.atb dc

Rough dogs only ball up in clay once in the season, I look forward to it, if they don't self strip to ground it leaves nice tags to strip them with when you get in.

There must be some lazy arses on here all it takes is a warm bath to get clay out the hair it takes minutes to do then a good rub down with a towel job done

Starting my new block of kennels and will be incorporating a special kennel/sick bay with lamps and tube heaters.finally deck and sort out the rest of the garden and keep her in doors off my back-moaning about how many kennels already -you not having more dogs blah blah blah lol.atb dc

I agree 100% .

I keep my terriers a bit heavier than most lads simply because I've seen terriers coming out a pound or two lighter than they went in. So imagine what 20 hours or more would do and that can happen any terrier if they get trapped.
