Digweed Been Robbed

Recommended Posts

Just seen on the news he's had a bit of a robbery and had two shotguns stolen amongst other things just wondering how they got the guns?

Four men smashed through his living room doors, beat him, tied him and his missus up and raided the house. Perhaps they simply asked the location and he gave it due to the immediate threat?

Having been beaten around the head with a hammer and probably demanding the location of the guns, then I would have just given them over,

They're not worth fighting over when you're outnumbered four to one.

Must have been a terrifying ordeal for them both and I hope they're all caught and sent back to prison, where they've no doubt been before.

As i have said on another forum, something just doesn't sit right with this. Why only take two guns? Why take some shooting trophies when they are pretty worthless, Why smash your way in when you could have broken in when the occupants are out and taken your time about the robbery? I think he has probably pissed someone off and this is a bit of payback.

Maybe he only had 2 guns? I find that hard to believe though given his shooting status. Alternatively, maybe he had more than 1 safe and only disclosed the location of the one containing the overspill. In which case he's been pretty clever.

I think there's a lot to be said for having a panic system as well as an alarm fitted plus ensuring the local police control room know that if they receive a burglar alarm call, it should be given a priority response as there are licensed firearms on the premises.

I would think they took the and medals in the belief they are were real metal .ie gold /silver , if they rob the place when no ones in the alarms go off , if they get in when someones in they get to ransack the place and take whatever cash etc they want , plus car keys ...what good are a load of stolen rifles , worthless ..and on a last note I know both George and Kate and even George would be hard pressed to piss someone off bad enough to want to be on a agrevated robbery charge when or if their caught ...I wish them a speedy recovery and cant believe the trauma they both went through ..

People like you can only add to the misery ..

Scrap metal would have been my guess for the trophy's. After all you can't sell them as they're traceable due to the inscriptions, plus who wants someone else's medals? A famous soldier or pop star maybe, but someone in a niche sport, however good they may be, doesn't exactly attract a lot of potential buyers from the criminal set.

Wish them both a good recovery and as I mentioned above, tell them to get a panic button / s. I have one that's wearable like a pendant albeit the only reason I have this was because I got it for my elderly mother when she was unwell as a fall / illness alarm. Nothing to stop you putting it on the table next to your chair etc though and just carrying it room to room. Most people who are burgled once, suffer repeat attacks and if they're not caught, now they know George has guns, they may well come back. CCTV and panic button is my advice. I tend to keep my panic button hung on the head of my bed these days, so if someone gets in during the night, highly unlikely as the alarm is part armed in various zones when I go to bed, I can trigger the alarm if I suddenly see people at the base of the bed. If you can set the alarm off when someone gets in, then it takes away the intimidation time. The worst aspect of a burglary of this type, is the burglars have all the time in world unless they've disturbed a neighbour in which to intimidate / torture you until they get what they want. Take that time away from them, and they'll either have to leave or grab the obvious and go. It's even better if the alarm is monitored as some such as mine have several types of disarm code, including ones that disarm the alarm if you're forced to do it, but convey a silent message that you've disabled it under duress to the central monitors.

Imagine the scenario if the husband was out and the Mrs was home alone and genuinely didn't know where the gun cabinet keys were..unbearable to think about.

Well thats exactly what happened not far from here last year and that turned out not to be a random robbery aswell.

The blokes wife turns up from the school run with the kids and enters the house. Minutes later four masked men burst in with knives and baseball bats. They proceed to threaten the kids with the knives demanding she open the gun cabinet. This cabinet was of the electronic lock type and she didn't know the code. Luckily for them after several guesses she stumbled on the code and the safe opened.

They stole a large amount of cash and fourteen rifles and shotguns plus ammunition. After tying the family up they left. It turned out that the bloke who had been robbed was a bit of a show off, telling anyone who would listen what he had and how wealthy he was. The bloke who set up the robbery had worked for him and was sacked, he thought unfairly. So pissed off he decided on payback and recruted four arsewipes to do what they did. So not random at all and i don't think Digweeds will be either. It doesn't take a lot to piss some folk off, maybe even just a bit of jealosy. The outcome was all five are remanded awaiting trial and only one shotgun was recovered, it had been sawn off. In this game i think it wise to keep your own council, tell nobody what you own and blend into the background.

Its obvious Digweeds was NOT a random attack , he happens to be the most well known gun owner in the country , have the biggest collection of silverware & medals , obviously not skint ..difficult to blend into the background if your a 26 times world champion clayshooter ..

Obviously we don't know which guns where taken but I remember seeing somewhere

Presenting him with a new one off competition gun

May be they where after that thinking its full of value

Personally I hope they load it drop it blow each other's balls off

Then catch fire only to be put out when their thieving fingers have dropped off then

On arriving at hospital being told the docs are on strike but not to worry

Harold shipmans been let out to help out

Thieving ba57ards

Do any of you remember hearing anything about this on the main stream news reports?

A multy World Champion beaten and robbed seems news worthy to me, but I don't recall seeing anything much, did I just miss it or was it not covered that much?
