They're the things that make them so good, I'd love my cold uncomfortable fuel guzzler back

Some call it "unreliability" I call it character

Like the Australian s said.if you want to drive into the outback take s land rover ,if you want to come back take a toyota

nope sussex the rust comes for free  and they will be replaced with stainless over the next few weeks. I dont need to be cured by a toyota it would only create another problem........ bordem

By boredom do you mean constantly driving ? , that's what the motors designed for mate ...although I have say I do miss the excitement of being towed at high speed or chatting to the recovery driver as they rescue the Landie from its latest breakdown ..must remember to check the hilux hinges tomorrow for rust !!!!!!

Mmm with full respect you have a very good point! But I'm allways under mine or under the bonnet checking and owt suspect I change and it's cheap. If it worked all the time I wouldent do that and enjoy it hence the Bordem. Must admit I been rescued once by the AA but apart from that it's been great over the years. Kind of a grown ups mechanic set.

surely they could keep making them and design a newer engine to meet the emissions regulations?

If it was just an engine problem , surly something from the range / discovery could be used ?

That what I thaught too, it's almost like an excuse to change it!
