Pipe Smoking

Iv decided that given my sage like knowledge I'd suit smoking a pipe....so that's my new years resolution!

Only smoke it rarely but am using Dunhill Deluxe Navy rolls in it just now

 

I get small amounts of different blends to use in it. I like all the aromatics. It`s pretty relaxing actually.

Yes get on it....and as Rake Abootsays there is something most relaxing about chewing on a pipe , contemplating life and wondering where next week, month , year is going to take you. Smoking a pipe involves a lot of thought, which may be the reason I only reach for mine every 6-8 weeks

Hi, I'm a fellow pipe smoker, I've been smoking a pipe now on and off for the past 4-5 years, back then I just fancied one, it then started when my wife bought me a Peterson pipe, the Sherlock Holmes type,..... lol,... as I was only used to smoked rollies, I found it to be a bit to heavy when you held it in your teeth, so what I did was to make up a pipe that suited me by buying a smaller bowl from one shop, and then a shorter stem form another, so now I have a short stubby one that's not to heavy when holding it with my teeth, and it goes straight out, instead of being crooked down, I have also smoked my grandad's pipe, he made it out of cherry and hazel wood, I smoke the aromatic tobacco, clan, it smells lovely in the pouch and just as nice when it is smoked, there is an art to keeping them alight though, don't pack it to tight, or to loose, you can use your finger or a proper pipe knife which has the dampener on the end, to push the tobacco in until you find that certain draw. I also find that if you tilt the pipe a little down, so that the stem is pointing to the top of the roof of your mouth, you will get a better draw. Its not like taking a puff on a fag, its a more gentle suck (pardon the pun). Once you get the hang of it you will enjoy it I'm sure.
