I do have a couple of friends who are very handy converting a rather " useless " air rifle like a GP Stealth into a piece of art. Mine has been reworked to get the most of its potential and accuracy e.g. home made hammer, mounts, valve, barrel recrowned and lapped etc.This will get it shooting at its optimum, Capable of doing game up to the size of foxes. But still I have to do my part otherwise all that power is useless. Good fieldcraft is hard to achieve ..... i'm still learning every day

Real nice. Looks proper Afghanistan shit that. Little do you all know, I actually did the Gunpower website for Geoff, the owner of the UK side of the business, in return for a Hellcat. Shame he never updates it to be honest. The Hellcat thing never came off, so I got cash instead. What are the Gunpower FAC's like?

After reworking the innards of the rifle, stiffening the frame, building a proper scope-mount (which also helps to get more strength into the frame) my friends even have put in a regulator (getting 70 consistent shots from one filling in .25 at 45 fpe) etc, calibrating it with the target turrets and using a rangefinder, it's a Grand rifle. Right out of the box it's crap...... but still a good design I do have two of these rifles and after customizing they are a proper FAC rifle ! Won't swap or sell mine

 

I like the single shot mode, because I like the possibility to check if there's a pellet in the breech. Something which isn't that easy with a magazine version.

 

 

 

The one on top has a integrated silencer / shroud and a.22 & .25 barrel, special scope mount, quick release sling swivels, also a Zeiss 6x42 and a mahogany stock, adding some extra weight to keep the whole package as solid as possible.

Go through all the trouble for an FAC then buy an Air Rifle !

sounds like a lot of backache , im sure the cost of a Ruger 10/20 is far cheaper than any decent FAC Air rifle.

As said, good tools where you can't use a rimfire. At around 30 ft lbs they hit with so much more authority than an sub 12. I've been looking at the FX Cyclone fac, with three power settings at around 12, 18 & 26 ft lbs it's got to be a versatile vermin gun IMO.

All but one of my six permissions are now cleared for .22lr, I love my HW100 but it's not been used for rabbits since my FAC came through! I do use my Webley patriot .25 (31ftlbs) for anywhere the .22lr can`t be used, saying that, I could get some .22s (27gr @ 70ft lbs) for short distance rabbits?

Interesting reading, is the sub 12 limit because any more power would be enough to pass through the human scull ?.

No, just that in the mid 60's there weren't much guns that exceed the 12 fpe limit. Think the only one which had more power was the Sheridan pump-up rifle from the States.

 

So the limit was rather arbitrary, not based on anything related to crime, health and safety or anything like that.

According to the US Army, you need to deliver 59 fpe to the vitals to ensure lethality. That equates to a projectile passing through 1.5 inches of solid pine, apparently...
