bird 10,014
it comes down to each child, meaning some kids are sensitive , and look or stern voice , is enough. then you get the other kind that the above wont mean feck to them, so smack across the back of the legs wont hurt it, but the message will go home . the other the day went into shops , and woman was looking stalls, why her feckin kid say about 6-7 year old was out of control, pulling things of shelves etc. she said once to stop , but no it didn't it carried on , few other women were giving it evil looks lol. but I thought how lucky that kid was, because my old mom would have cracked it across the legs deff . infact it was my mom who hit us kids 2 brothers , 2 sisters and me lol , she used a feckin stick on me for throwing a stone at a kids head , made a mess of the kids head , when I got older my old man punched me in the face , for hitting my younger brother , who was bigger than me , when we were fighting I hit him and his arm went though the back kitchen door (glass) . ive got a son 28 and ive never hit him, most as been just a just me shouting at him , which as always worked, my lad knows how far to push, me even now at my age , he don't push his luck with me . Born Hunter 17,909
I think it's a bit dramatic to say that slapping your child means you have failed as a parent. Failed to control them through non violent means, but not failed as a parent. Plenty of children have been raised using physical discipline to become good respectable young adults..... their parents being failures? LOL

BGD 6,437
Plenty of kids have been dragged up on estates by junkies and become good respectable young adults too, were their parents not failures either? Just because a kid can grow up into a decent adult in spite of how they were raised doesn't excuse the parents.

Born Hunter 17,909
Plenty of kids have been dragged up on estates by junkies and become good respectable young adults too, were their parents not failures either? Just because a kid can grow up into a decent adult in spite of how they were raised doesn't excuse the parents. Depends on what influence those junkies had on the children in their upbringing. If the kids largely brought themselves up then yes they are failures. If the junkies held down a job and raised their children with some sort of ethics despite their addiction then no they weren't quite failures. The proof is in the pudding. If a parent raises a child into a functioning, admirable member of society and uses physical discipline to achieve that then you can hardly call them a failure as a parent seeing as the result was a success. A complete waste of good air type parent that lets their child raise themselves is hardly a parent at all. They did little to no actual parenting. LOL some kids need it .some don't I reckon , I got hit few times like said on my thread, but never hit my own son, as he never needed it , my mouth was enough for him . But looking back at my childhood , my parents did try but lacked patience really, mom was stressed out with 4 kids, and young baby , and my dad worked 2 jobs to look after us lot, both were suppose on a knife edge really. I only got 1 child 2 would have been maximum , better for parents+ kids long term I think, unless you got meger patience , and I aint lol
dare 1,103
Plenty of african kids are beaten almost like a cultral thing and they joke n brag about how bad the beatings were. They mostly grow up into fine examples of society. I think let people raise kids how they want. There is no one size fits all. Long as the kid aint being abused keep your nose out. If as a parent you feel ok with it then carry on who cares about opinions or laws if you dont feel youve done anything wrong.
