Should We Be Allowed To Smack Our Children ?

Recommended Posts

Physical punishment has been banned in schools for many years, and other European countries honour treaties banning all physical punishment of children, both in schools and in the home.

But our parliament has always shyed away from passing a law banning the smacking of your own children. Provided you don't leave a mark on the child, action is unlikely to be taken against you, but is that enough ?

Do you think smacking should be banned outright, or is it a matter of parental decision ?

It's one thing to give a kid a quick smack on the bum and quiet another to give a kid a beating. I think I have had to smack my kids bum about twice in their entire life......that's not to say that i

I couldn't give a f*ck Wat anyone says...if they deserve a crack they will get one...

When mam was REALLY mad, she'd hit you in time with the words..........   "How...many....times....have...I....told...you...." etc etc   I'd be thinking "Talk quicker FFS !"

I got a bad temper at times ..few years a go yes give em a slap. Now? f**k that most kids now days need sitting down and talking too.bit of understanding. A good chat between parent and child GOS along way beleave. Don't get me wrong now and then I think little shit lol.am my sons keeper.dad friend and if he's playing up its for a reason and we sort the problem out between our self's not by kicking of. Talk understanding is the key..some little c**ts do need a slap thogh.. Lol.I try to do things divergent ..each to own fellers..kids who are c**ts its leart..

I don't think they should ban it,,,,

Kids somtimes need a smack,,,but that said,,,you have kind of lost cost control if you do it,,,best to resolve things by talking,,I've never smacked my boy,,,and I hope I never do

IMO your no much of a parent if you have to resort to physical violence to get through to them.

I had a dad that was very prone to raising his hands. Thing back then, it was widely accepted.

Violence breeds violence.

Sends out a very negative message to a kid growing up.

I think you should be allowed to smack other people children

Especially when they come into my shop and let the little shits run wild

smack my kid and ill be trashing ya shop
So long as someone keeps their little angels under control I don't have a problem

Let them run wild I tell the customer once

If they don't I tell them to get out

Its the parents who need a slap most of the time. Was in line in a shop other day and thought I heard the lad shout at his kid about 4 a little cnut. I wasn't sure because of his jock accent but asked my mate outside and he thought the same.

I also got the belt everyday@school.

But like I said it was the norm back in those days.

I still remember the f***ing welts running up my wrists.

How many of you parents these days would accept some c**t laying into your kids.

And yes teachers back in those days belted you for no other reason than, they didn't like you.

As for bringing it back lol

Aye good luck with that one!

Kids today would wrap the f***ing belt round thier head.and quite rightly so IMO !

You have no right to lay your hands on anyone regardless if your the kids parent or not. In fact that should be more of a reason why you shouldn't .

Oh that's another pet hate if mine.

Parents who swear@thier kids! In fact I don't like anyone to swear around kids.

Smacking as punishment isn't needed and I think if you have to resort to it to control your brats you've failed as a parent but if your kid is say reaching for the hot stove or about to pick up something dangerous the short sharp shock of a clip round the ear is very effective...

We don't smack our dogs when training them because we know it usually does more harm than good so why resort to using violence to "train" our children?

Saying all that though I don't see why it needs to be banned, educate parents giving them the tools to raise their kids without smacking and we can still punish the real b*****ds under existing child abuse laws.

I don't like smacking my kids but I have done, I agree to a degree you have lost control if you have to resort to smacks more I feel I have not been creative or clever enough to find a better way. I don't think the law needs changing as said if you don't leave marks you are not hurting them too bad which I think is strict enough
