Yer mate agree with that but also love the dog that’s been passed on from a not so good owner to an owner that can turn the dog round and get the best out em , 2 of the best dog n bitch both had close dam lines

Yes, I agree with your way of thinking, BUT, there are plenty of pet bred whippets have caught allsorts of game/quarry over the years.

I, myself, have even owned a few.

Summat will turn up mate, the idea of goin through free ads or pets at home just don’t appeal to me tbh, I even went look at a youngster a few weeks ago, was a bit lively for the lass who had it an was running mental, but it had already had a serious injury as a puppy an for all I really fancied geeing the wee thing a chance an a release fkr its energy I really didn’t wanna end up with a dog I couldn’t use an it end up bein a pet, same pal that mentioned that youngster mentioned a young collie whippet grey pup a lad is humming an hawing about keeping, so I might go have a look at that if he decides to part with it

Have a word with the Irish lads,Don. There’s a lot of decent working whippets over there.

I judged the whippet show at Birr Castle over there a few years ago and there were plenty that looked like the could do a job.

One of the Irish lads sent this coursing bred whippet over for my pal;

Pups 6 n half months old now, doing great 17tts. Only light not weighed her but at a guess I'd say 6kg

This non-ped weighs 12lb and runs in the 16lb class and is virtually unbeatable !

And it’s 1/4 greyhound !!

Others in the litter were up to 40lb

Mine nearly 6 months 21 tts, think he will make 23, not weighted him recently I’d guess around 13kg

I took the pics and had my hands all over it, and it’s a dog , not a bitch.

Ive see  a few like that but not that small or fast, there was a bitch called Rch Cherry many years ago that was unbeatable at yards for pound racing but it was around 16lb.

Unbelievable it looks like it would snap in half if it hit another dog in the race, a hare would probably drag it round the field and kick it off
