I personally wouldn't go for a straight cross of any sort first time out.

I'd be looking for a nice mix of honest workers from a few generations of breeding, and keeping an open mind on what breeds are in there.

at the moment you don't know what breeding you like so don't get bogged down with what breeds.get an average size lurcher from a decent breeding ,and wait for the right one ,it will come along, most lurchers that have had a kind. Upbringing will be loyal and eager to please

Quite a few of these posts have proved the point i made earlier. Collies can be too smart and make you look daft terrier blood can make the dogs a little head strong and what everyone says can be true so get something you simply like the look of and have a soft spot for because they all have there bad points. Tbh i wanted a bull x from day one but got a collie/kelpie cross because i thought it would be more sensible based on what people were saying now i also have a small bull x with bits of all sorts thrown in. And i prefer the dog i originally wanted (the bull x). So do what you want based upon what you like the look and temperement of. Everyone will say they dislike a certain cross and its usually because theres something they PERSONALLY dont like.
