Anyone Else Working Malinois X Greyhounds Or Similar

Did you breed these dogs GVC? There was a litter from Kent advertised on here a few months ago. Anyone know how they are getting on?

They're are doing very well and produced a fairly even litter. Hardy, fearless, clever, but a bit hard to keep occupied.

Good with the gun, live stock, not seen ferrets yet, bark/bite on command, follow the beam, retrieved most things, not entered water yet but I have no doubts. In fact the only thing they are lacking is my ability to train two highly driven pups!

All good guards, but sensible with and steady with it.

I've liked them so much I'm running two this season. One of them is a bit hard to live with, but the dog I used is too.

Before everyone jumps on it and thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread, they are not for everyone, they need lots of stimulation. If not they will drive you mad, really!

My dogs are out at least twice a day, not necessarily working, but playing, socialising, training and keeping them busy. They need to be in and out of the home to give them proper socialisation and stimulation.

They chew like feck, they are noisy in kennels, will eat every thing they are not meant to, they jump up at people, can be sensitive to a heavy hand and will take them selves off hunting if you don't keep your eye on them. So all in all a fecking nightmare if you don't know what you are doing or don't have enough time for them.

Anyone still want one?

Good write up leegreen, I've been waiting for an update on this litter :-)

Are you getting the same sort of feedback about their siblings? Anyone got one as their only dog, one on one as it were?

I should imagine those foibles you highlight could be ironed out a little, if someone had the luxury of being around the home all day (my situation :-)) & being able to interact with the dog throughout the day, one on one......

Sound like a real challenge though & an exiting season ahead for sure ;-)

Any recent pics mate?

Sorry I hadn't answered this.

No recent pictures I'm afraid, I'm not really the photo type :whistling: .

Two of the pups are lone dogs, a dog and a bitch. The dog is the one that was offered on here, he has a fantastic temperament, very loving, loyal, friendly, bold. The man has got him as a house dog, PPD and pet. It has been hunting with me a few times and I think it's bang on. It was killing rats from 12 weeks old and wasn't/isn't fazed about getting bitten, perfect. He has also hunted and caught rabbits on it's own.

The bitch I don't know much about other than the man has her very well trained, has been of the lead in public from 8 months old, barks on command, good house guard. Goes to work with the man in a pup, lives with two young children and a cat. It has yet to catch the fox in the garden!

I will try to get some photos this season.

These three came from a bitch that was very driven. I was told she failed her police test on the "leave command". However she was not a maniac that would bite anything that moved. The pups have a very

What amazes me with these type crosses ,is we breed 2 completely different types for 100s if not thousands of years,

To a pure form ,specialized at their particular jobs, and then one cross ,they look like the pariah type dogs from Asia and Africa, and maybe a dingo. Shows how close dogs are to their ancestors really

true that roy , i had 1x collie x kelpie x grey bitch, she was brown in colour , about 23 in and strong with it .She was total feckin nutter maybe there dingo in them like the acd dogs , as the acd deff got dingo in them from way back  , she was great with me, but anybody else or dogs she have them. i kept her for near 2 years, but she was a liability .She went for my wife+ son in a week, so i took for a walk with my 686 12g . i like the acdx greys and kelpiex greys, but i reckon they can deff be a handful , prob more so the acd x greys, as there sharp and brill watch dogs

I think this would be an excellent idea for a pot filler I have a papered Check Shepard bitch that has an unbelievable prey drive and wiling ness to work that I think would produce excellent pups to the right dog. She has endless stamina excellent nose and never switches off. But that said I don't know if there are enough like minded people out to warrant producing a litter of pups for.

That's what we were hoping for We would like to produce something that resembles the rough tough working collie x's that seam to have disappeared. Only time will tell but we hope that using well tested working dogs will pay off with a nice line of luchers capable of being true allrounders.
