Any idea what the reason could be for suddenly getting slugs on the inside of a wooden shed/summerhouse type thing ?......Only noticed the last few weeks every night theres 2 or 3 of the little fuckers either on the floor or walls......i turned it into a bit of a birdroom a while ago but should that make a difference ?.................Im told salt is good for getting rid of them or is that just an old wives tale.

it will kill them , just put a trail of it where you see the slugs at night (just before dark)

I use ordinary cheapo table salt, and you can literally watch them turning to jelly.

Read a fishing article some years back where a guy turned up at a fishery and saw loads of white circles in the swims. He asked a guy fishing what it was, and he told him salt to keep the slugs out of the bivvies. The carp guys used to wake up to find large slugs inside the bivvy crawling over everything, so once they had set the bivvy up they poured table salt around the outside, and it worked a treat.

We've been inundated with them big black ones this year, horrible things.

It's because the weather is getting colder ... I hazard a guess that the shed gets a good deal of sunlight which will warm the wood up which is attracting the slugs ... Snails do the exact same thing ... All the above work but I do like the good old beer trap it's very very effective .......
