London Is Definately Not For Me ............

Recommended Posts

I've always tried to get the train in when I have to go. Have driven a few times but unless its just inside the M25 by a few mile its not worth the hassle and I also always seem to get caught out by the congestion charge and late payment fine when I forget.

When I work there its usually right in the centre. I would hate to live round there and dont enjoy my trips down much. I like it for a night out though and have had some massive nights and weekends out in London

I am not the right person to ask mate as I dont know enough about it and exactly where it is but there is a sort of cordon that if you go past your number plate gets scanned and you get auto billed. It is sign posted (but with all the traffic and general mess its easy to miss) think you may be able to pay by text or call up, but if you forget to pay they sting you. It was about 6 years ago when I last got it but was stung for about £85 for forgetting all about having to pay. I think they give you a few days grace to pay though so you may be all right still.

Anyone help socks with where abouts in London the congestion charge kicks in?

Used to like the culture, museums, buildings, the "sights" etc when I was a teenager.

Went to New York for 5 days (20 years ago) and absolutely loved it, though I wouldn't want to live there.

The thought of driving through London now absolutely terrifies me,

even visiting scares me shitless although my missus goes up to see shows several times a year. :icon_eek:

The last time I drove through Picadilly circus, I had a 2 year old Allegro Estate LOL

Cheers, D.

For future reference........if you run over a f****n great big letter C in the middle of the road......your in the charging zone !......Even a farmer like you can work it out ;)

Anyway if you went from Hammersmith flyover to Lewisham you wont have touched it......its only the City and West End

I still think its a great site to see the Totters daughters or probably granddaughters riding those horses down the middle of the traffic on Lewisham way, no saddle and rope for reigns.

You will never, ever replace something like that with a modern "thing"

used to be proper characters, the old totters. my mate's dad and grandad were scrapmen, kept a horse under the railway near deptford station. used to weigh in down the scrapyard bottom of tanners hill. i loved going out on the cart with them on a saturday morning, i could never understand how my mate wasnt interested. and as for my mate, did he become a rag and bone man? did he feck, last i heard of him he was at oxford university!! theres a lesson there somewhere......
