452 Silhouette synthetic 16inch.   This one has the new synthetic stock, slightly soft rubbery feel opposed to hard plastic feel if that makes sense.....

My vote is the 452 16" varmint with a nice wood stock. I use mine a fair bit and now the wood isn't perfect but still looks (to me) better than some black plastic stock. I prefer the weightier feel to

As far as I can tell, the later ones than mine have a few updates like set trigger and so on. Mine works perfectly as it is. They still sell the 452 new for us cack-handers, so can't be all bad.

Mine is the "American", but if I was right handed, I'd get a silhouette in synthetic.

I shoot lefty as well and have the same. 452 American. I fitted a trigger kit to mine, very easy, and it's sweet as a nut. £30 SAK MOD, box of 40g Winchesters and you're away!.

I've got a 452 because they don't make the more modern ones in left hand. Great little gun. I think the replacement is the 453 or 455.

Exactly the same here Walshie. I also have the left hander, due to being left eye dominant when I shoot. However, I am considering going back to the Mossberg Hushpower 410g out of personal preference.

Looking around, a cz 22 rimfire looks like it will fit the bill.

Will need it sound mod.

Couple of models look like they are current, but the more I look about..... you know how it is.

So, what model do you like and why. Im not going to be doing much walkng with it, so heavier barrel is not a problem.

That's like asking us to chose a wife for you out of a Miss World line up!

From my point of view bugger heavy, either vehicle or walking, never found any need for one for field work, but apparently you don't mind! :hmm:

So the answer is simple, get whatever you like, there isn't a CZ rimfire that will let you down!

Edit

Mod wise, on a .22lr SAK rules for good reason. There is absolutely no gain worth talking about spending any more on a .22lr mod.

a cz style synthetic stock stainless/nickel action then cover it in camo tape....accurate reliable quiet and can take weather and a few knocks with synthetic stock...i covered mine as during daylight the shine from the nickel spooked the rabbits... i really quite like the finish on it now...fired a few thousand rounds and is nice smooth and i know where its going to hit on the mil dots

  • 6 months later...

Have held back due to funds going into the house etc. But a friend told me of a .22lr for sale, all I got was a kind of abstract photo and a price. So took the carrot and now have a norinco aka puma .22lr the scope was a bit pony, so have fitted an A.S.I. 4-12x40 and will try and put some rounds through it this weekend. Its a brno mk2 copy apparently..

CZ magazines fit it apparently, got a 9 round one with it.

Good budget starter .22 for me, would be 6 months or more till ive slowed up spending on the house and dared to buy myself a CZ.
