Anyone Had A Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5-10X50?

.243 will do everything. It's a great fox round. Only reason to look elsewhere is if you want a bigger deer rifle.

 

BTW only reason I'd use the turrets is accuracy and that's what they're their for. Memorise some common distances and in daylight at least it should be easy. However, I totally understand those who find milldots quicker or easier. Depends on the quarry, available light and preference.

Totally agree Alsone. When I eventually hunt big game I will defo have had more practice and learn to use turret adjustments for long ranges. But for now for what I hunt mildots all the way for ease and speed

Yes:

I've got a WTC, had it from years ago (20 at least).

Bought it in a Florida Walmart for $75 (£45 i'sh).

It started off on a CZ .223 and has 'surfaced' on numerous rifles of varying power/calibre etc in the intervening years.

Today its on my HW100 airgun, still good clear and in focus at <20 yards, 'perfect'.

Fine piece of kit.

why oh why do the clan think that it is right to put a scope like jodrell bank onto an air rifle?  I have on the odd occasion taken a target out at around 300 with either the 223, 243 or 270 but that is rare. Normally I try to get eighty paces. 6 or 8 x 40 is more than adequate. Just point and shoot.  I use Zeiss and Leupold.  Still they might be trying to shoot fleas off of the rabbits ears across the channel.

i have the simmons 3.5- 10x 40  on my winchester xtr featherweight compact .243 and no problems with recoil etc
