Without sounding heartless but see when they get to this stage, are they not better off dead? They aren't the same person we all knew or even there family knew. They probably don't even recognize themselves in the mirror, pretty sad really.

potentially another thread of football fanatics versus people with no respect for the man no more,.........yeah good player in his day but his legend status has drowned on his self inflicted disease..

I've never understood the pity handed out to this bloke. He was good when he was a player, but now he's just an alkie like all the other thousands of alkies round the country.

Defo' soon the drink will kill him......always thought he was a funny man, great talent.....obviously he a wee brain fart in going to play for the Huns... To be fair i'm fed up hearing about him get

I read Jimmy Greaves autobiography years ago and he was close to being like Gazza is, he reckons he was an alcoholic from the moment he drank his first pint.

His opinion is some people are that way and others not and I tend to agree, a mate of mine drank like a fish for 20 odd years, I've seen him drink a bottle of scotch and 6 or 7 pints in a night, yet the day he got married stopped almost completely and nowadays just has the odd pint.

and all that disease bull shite ,..........it aint a natural disease its self inflicted some don't have chances or choices and because he was good at his job I think hes had enough of the special treatment and for all I care let the fooker drink his self to death ,...........he had everything on a plate and still chose his way.....

Charming............just out of interest when you see a drunken old dosser laying in a doorway with a cup of coins in front of him do you throw a few quid in or ignore him and keep walking...................you sound the sort who would kick the cup over !

After whats gone off in whippet 99,s life you can understand his attitude mate.

It's as easy to turn down a drink as it is to accept one. Same as it's as easy to throw away all the help he's been given over the years. Granted a good player in his time but a waster off the field. If his own family cant help him then what chance have his so called mates and accqaintances got. Let him drink himself to death if that's what he wants is my opinion.

I think his talent got the better of him and the fame went to his head , it affects a few but how is it a illness its self inflicted , theres a lot of folk out there with a skill like he had but dont become alcoholics
