The only down side to Hancocks is its his business and he hasn't the time to sit and socialise all the pups, so I wouldn't take on an older pup that he often gets stuck with.

thats a fair shout bbb, back in the late80s i lost a collie type lurcher bitch she was an out and out rabbit dog. hit by a car, so i said thats it no more for me.well you know what its like when you have no lurcher about the place.so i phoned dh, and asked what he had. he had a litter of 6mt old pups out of richard jones, i took a dog £100.+£15 vat.the dog was very very nervous but slowly got better, he would not be kenneled up. he slept outside in the garden in rain and snow it didnt bother him at all. he was used on a bitch and that was it. over the fence he would go so had to build kennels, he was an out and out fox dog, he would mark to ground, worked very well with terriers. he would never look at deer, and was not up for hares, had to be pts at 10yrs.......... afew years down the line1998 i wanted a dog abit faster than a halfcross so phones dh what you got i asked, 3/4 cross by maurice 6mts old. i took her on. £150, and was glad i did, she took the lot, at the time i was digging abit and she had a few bolters under her belt, so 2 dogs from hancox at 6mts old, both very good for fox,but as you say i think if i had had them from 8wks they may have been abit better.atb dave mac
