Five Films .....

Recommended Posts

"DOWNFALL" i highly rate that movie very eye opening and the best potrayal of Adolf Hitler in cinema history.

:icon_eek: Ooh! I can see you and I seeing eye to eye here! You like a bit of realistic history of that time too, eh?

Das Boot then is de rigour, obviously. Just because it's war and it's f**king excellent!

But, what about the BBC production; " Auschwitz: The Nazis and 'The Final Solution' " ? F**king Superb! Not exactly sure we'd be cheering the same side there ( :whistling:) But, the quality of production is simply f**king stunning. And the guy playing Hoess is an absolute dead f**king ringer for my mate!

just a bit lol was born in the wrong era lol

i take those movies and documentaries with a large pinch of salt.consider there source.

Whooah! How about Your best war film, ever ...?

I'm probably to blame for sending this thread off at a tangent myself, with the war films angle :icon_redface: Oh well. It'd probably run its course.

So, how ~ in your opinion ~ does " Restrepo " compare to " Generation Kill " ? Just curious because I've watched the latter a few times. Never heard of Restrepo before.

Outlaw pete your not one of these who sits round watching war films wanking themselves off into the couch over magazine changes and pairs fire manourvere are you ??

Restrepo is as real as it is, Gen K is based on a rolling stones article, Evan wright done a great job but a picture paints a thousand words, Restrepo captures the trampish living squalor of the fobs, the trudgery and the violence of modern warfare, GEN K shows retarded americans marines

Now if we want to get serious about war films then you have to mention

Kelly's Heros........with the great Donald Southerland as " Oddball" , one of the best war film characters ever IMHO

The boy in the striped Pajamas with David Thewlis's awesome understated portrayal of the SS officer, much better than Ray Fines in Shindlers List

One of the best war sequences ever is the end of Blackadder IMHO

Gallipoli

No film has ever been made about British POWs in German prison camps or the Lamsdorf death march........they marched a few thousand men out of the gates of Lamsdorf Stalag VIII and surrounding camps in the middle of January in the Poland winter and made them walk a thousand kilometres to Germany......they died like flys, many without boots and practically zero food , if they stopped they topped them..........obviously not " Hollywood " enough

:icon_eek:Wow!!! I'm not asking ~ in case you somehow start struggling to Explain to me ~ how your mind works.

First, after six pages plus of people enjoyably exchanging views, You Tell us the Facts.

Then, when I simply ask your personal view of two comparative bits of cinematography? You're off into one about old men masturbating on the sofa while going through magazines?!

Don't you think you'd be better served on another thread?

Forum ..?
