you can jab your own dogs legally but if you do someone elses dog then thats practicing vet meds with out a license

Whats the difference between joe public doing it and farmers? they can dock lambs tails and de horn young animals without having the same qualifications as a vet? just got me thinking!!

as long as its your own dog its perfectly legal but you cant treat anyone elses dog

No, it's not illegal - just bear in mind that some insurance companies won't recognise non-vet jabs, and some policies won't pay out if your dog isn't vet jabbed. Also, kennels won't accept non certificate jabs. If neither of those things are likely to apply to you - crack on. I get mine done for £15 a dog at the local pet shop ( Pets at Home ) - for £15 a year, I know it is a proper, in date vacc that will be signed onto the vacc cert by a qualified vet. Personal choice.

At the end of the day I think if your not a qualified vet then you aren't qualified to treat them.I'm sure Eddie Chapman once got fined for jabbing his terriers because he isn't qualified. We all know that some vets are crap but if they have the papers then theyre qualified. Its another one of those stupid laws like tail docking.

dogs are not classed as livestock so are excluded from the self treatment clause of livestock, this is why if you want to order say benzol benzoate for a dog online you carnt without a perscription, however if the same product is for use on a horse, its avialable over the counter at most countrystores and online without perscription.

When was Benzyl Benzoate made prescription only :hmm: only bought some last year...

How long have Vet Colleges been in existence? What did you do before it? Its only a jab under the skin.

its perscription only for dogs, bells who were the uk distributor stopped doing it a few years ago because of the new regulations that were brought it to control its distribution in the uk. however its still on general sale for the treatment of sweet itch in horses.

You can jab your own dogs and other peoples but if you accept money for it then its illegal.

If thats the case then why did Eddie Chapman get fined for innoculating his own pups??

Fucknows feller but everyone who owns lurchers or terriers around here jab them up themselves or get a friend to do it never had problems unless your putting your dogs in boarding kennels then you need to take them to a vet and have a certificate.atb
