Same with me John, it's on one side of my garden, in the border and under the flags. In 16 years I've never gotten shut, but I can keep it back by pulling it as soon as I see it. On the other side of the garden I have bindweed, which is also a massive pain, but by keeping an eye out daily, that's also under control

Then use a little modelling paint brush to paint it on so it don't drip off on to other plants. Cheers Arry

An old boy told me to paint it on years ago, but it was always too liquid and dripped. Wallpaper paste sounds just the ticket. Thanks
Bosun11 537
My greenhouse Tom's are doing OK so far, though I've had to pinch off some early flowers to gain the hight. Got 8 inside, in buckets, with a couple of cucumbers and chillies. Pots of corriander on the floor, and the buckets contain marigolds and infant basil. The toms in pots i'm holding for a mate who's working away. I've also got another 11 Tom's outside, south-facing. The varieties are, Sungold, Alicante, Rio Grande & Roma

Cheers Arry Agreed, though I planted loads from seed I only got 4 plants. Two inside, two outside. Though I do believe the peat free compost I used played it's part. Tougher varieties like the Roma & Rio Grande were fine, and I had a glut of seedlings.

I only use Peat if I can get it "Vitax" and use coarse sand on top of seeds I find I get good germination with Tomatos. If you use grit instead of peat on top of lettuce seed you don't seem to lose seedling to damping off. Imo Westlands peat free is shit. Cheers Arry
