we had a 14% cut on our electric the other month , so a rise of 8% is still cheaper than it was last winter

your lucky my direct debit just went up from £83 to £127 a month after our last 3 year cap finished :icon_eek:

The 8% being quoted on this thread specifically applies to British Gas and their prices mate. The other companies usually follow suite..

I can't understand how they get away with it, I live down the road from two massive LNG terminals which were opened a couple of years ago, 25% of the UK's gas now comes in between them via huge tankers. This has allowed a huge saving for the suppliers dues to bulk transport costs, yet they still hammer on the inflation busting increases every year..

Worked for both npower and edf, both money grabbing cnuts, take decisions at the top level and leave the frontline staff to deal with it. All this money they coin in and the staff are on pittance, all about getting customers on board with these deals but don't actually look after your existing customer base...now to me that is bread and butter of running a business!!

My direct debit just went down to £50 per month for gas and electic (duel fuel) and I recieved a cheque back from scottish power for £354 for my overpayment this year,I got a multifuel stove fitted in december last year and it heats my house a treat..I also get free logs from one of the farmers that I shoot for as it saves him the time and work involved in cutting up the old and wind dammaged trees and lets him get on with the other work on the farm....almost free heat as I do drop him in a couple of bottles of wine and some venison burgers now and again.

They should never privatise the power industries

Your right. Should have been set up as non profit making.

............And where is all the profit going ?? Well it's not being re-invested in the energy network thats for sure. A lot of the network is 50-60 years old and over capacity as it is.

Get yourself a Genni would be my advice.

A lot of the profits are going overseas to foreign companies and governments...
