Even if there wasn't any money involved, people will still try to cheat just to say they were champ racer at XXX Show...

If you want to separate the Greyhounds from the Lurchers then just make the buggers run two or maybe even three times in a row, one straight after another. Lurchers are specifically bred for doing this. Greys still wouldn't have their tongues in from the first race.

Chartpolski ,this bitch must be one of them rare all rounders LOL

I said on another topic that Lurchers were in danger of splitting into three distinct types; "working", "showing" and "racing". This is allready happening. There are pups advertised as from "Show Winn

why not just get rid of the racing altogether and the bickering and lies will stop.

ive a whippet bull greyhound here looks as much like a greyhound as anything i seen in the master mcgrath, all the dogs in it are race dogs that was the object of it in the first place, its not to find the best worker its to find the fastest.if working lurchers is your thing why worry about a race, and if you want to win a race then you need to bring the fastest, its nothing to do with bringing in prize money as there were 7/8 greyhounds racing before there ever was prize money.everyone entering knows what they are up against before they enter so why pay and then complain.ive probably the smallest whippet in the country that would of won had the race been 10yrds shorter but it wasnt thats how it goes . im nothing even to do with the organizers and im sick of all the rubbish after an event as far as the under 21 i never seen it stuart but it was a pleasure meetin you and leigh yesterday mate.if you want to win the rosette get a dog to do it either way enjoy your dogs if they work or show who really cares Y.I.S tango

I had an enjoyable fairly relaxed two days at the gamefair. It was great to meet up with so many lurcher folk who work, race and show their dogs and get to talk about all aspects of our choosen hobbies. I thought Stuart(Denned) did a fantastic job of judging the lurchers......i didn't recognise him on sunday with a shirt and tie on  . As for the under 21" final i'm sorry but i've got to disagree with Stuart and anyone else who says that Paris didn't win. I was directly on the line, not as a judge, but as a spectator and Paris won, although i wouldn't say it was a length but less. Those who came to me afterward to say that the line judge got it wrong, i'm sorry, but not one of them were on the line. Some of them were 10-15 yards before the line and others were a number of yards after the line. You can only make a call when you are on the line looking directly across it. Without a shadow of a doubt, 100% Paris won. If anyone would have taken a photo directly across the line, and not at an angle to it, again it would have showed 100% Paris won.

I think that anyone who turns up at a show to race with any dog that looks like a greyhound and wins, whatever part of the UK, North/South Ireland they are from, unless they can prove the breeding there is always going to be questions asked. As it's already been stated it's all down to honesty. I would have liked to have seen a working lurcher win the novice race and not a purpose bred racing lurcher but thats me.

why not go and tell the people with the greyhounds or people racing dogs in the under 23 that are over 23 what you think of them instead of starting on here when its to late and nothing can be done to stop them

personally i think yous all should have come up and talked to the IWTF and supported what we are trying to do, the work we have done and the advice we could have given anyone of yous as in regarding the dog game in northern ireland or southern ireland, we are not actually lurchermen but we do know a fair bit about your particular choice in dogs..ie..the lurcher and what you can and can not do to work them legally in ireland.... the terriermen all seemed too stay away too lol.... yeah of course we had some interest and the weather was bad... but the fair itself was really good with great stalls, loadsa choice, great judges, fine food and an amazing turn out, was just a wee bit dishearted if im honest at the lack of support that we really should be receiving... instead of fighting over who won a lurcher race at a show or who got the prize rosette....

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
