kanigra 110
Think they'd make a good cross for ferreting. I personally would put a first cross back to the whippet to get a 3/4 cross. Quote Link to post
fireman 11,235
Same as you johnny, say it as it is and not all is good in the plummer terrier that much is so true but i do think a whippet x could bring to the table a bit more than either dog could bring. It'd improve the nose no end of the whippet and give the plummer that bit of pace it lacks for bolting rabbits when ferreting.I'll never do it myself as i don't need to but i would have a day out with a x like this as imo i think it'll be a handy dog IF BRED FROM THE RIGHT STUFF to start with. That's the crux of it though mate the plummer terrier as taken a real down turn over the last decade so finding the right stuff is much harder these days. I also think the first x would suffer a bit of litter wastage tbh......if you had the time and the will then a 3/4 whipp 1/4 plummer would make a decent little ferreting companion. Quote Link to post
forest of dean redneck 11,936
I often wonder about a patterdale x whippet,? Quote Link to post
patterdalejoel 669
I often wonder about a patterdale x whippet,? would there be less wastage in this as the chance of getting a proper worker compared to the plummer breed would be higher? dont know. there is a dvd where he has a pack of them ratting forgotten the name Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,792
I have a 1st x staffie/whippet. Would i have deliberately bred or gone out to purchase this cross, definitely not. BUT....she is the gamest little dog i have ever had the pleasure to own, would i have her again, without a doubt. The right terrier crossed with the right whippet will give loads of fun. 2 Quote Link to post

stabba 10,745
The reason you have to wait for a plummer stud/pup is because most of the plummer clubs/federations are run by cliquey money obsessed fools who try and dictate who and what should be bred and who gets to own them. no doubt there are decent lads out there who shy away from these organisations and these are the lads who will have the right kind of plummer in there yards..as for plummer x whippet? why not..should make as handy busher as a beddy/whippet imo..atb stabba 1 Quote Link to post

oneshot1986 72
Beddy whippets are tried and tested, why try and fix something that aint broke. A pure beddy will usually stand around 15 tts wwhereas a plummer is what 11/12 plus a beddy throws a much better coat. Don't see the point tbh and the plummer terrier is fecked these days to many people concerned with show types rather than working types imo. you hit the nail on the head beddy x are tried and tested if they wasnt tried then they cant be tested and no i dont own a plummer just saying no harm in trying something different atb oneshot Quote Link to post
