Nik_B 3,791
I'm afraid to say, I am not. Wife keeps asking me if I'm feeling christmassy. Feeling pressured to give a positive response. Well, my kids are 16 and 11 so instead of a letter to Santa its a list of Argos item numbers and costs. Money isn't exactly crash hot at the mo (but there's millions worse off I guess) and Xmas to me lately represents more financial pressure and pointless commercialism. When i was a kid, you put 'radio controlled car' on your wish list and would be surprised at whatever turned up. It was magic, exciting and wonderful. Where's the romantic notion of surprise when you know the precise item that is going to turn up? I do like the Christmas food I have to admit and a bottle of Glenmorangie off 'the kids'. Happily there is an upside I realised the other day that I have pretty much everything I want: Wife asks "what would you like for Xmas?". I honestly couldn't think of anything. Maybe a romp with a slim, fit bird? Materially, I reckon I must be pretty well off then. But i look forward more to time with family, and time away from the family out in the fields doing what I love. How are the rest of my hunting cohorts feeling during the festive season? Love to most of you , Duncan. Well put. My missus does my head and panders to the kids (we've got a 19 year old and a 5 year old). been through the argos list thing but the wife almost seems to encourage that?! I'm the same as you and have the same memories asked for the 'cool toys' and got a pair of binoculars LOL. Christmas should be about giving not receiving in my opinion but it's like swimming against the tide. Not even fussed about what they get me because if I want something I will buy it myself but I get a lot of pleasure receiving a present that someone put a lot of though into....hardly ever happens though! This year I told the wife I wanted some dokken dummies and a launcher and her reaction was that "That is for the dog!".......she doesn't get that the 'dog' is my hobby

Bosun11 537
I'm feeling a bit Christmassy now, to be honest, i've always liked it. Our daughter is two now and it's bloody good fun with her and next year should be even better, they are what Christmas is all about. My Mrs is pretty organised, we had everything bar the grub boxed off by mid November, as both of us hate battling through shopping madness. So that left us free to take a trip to the Manchester Christmas Market the other week, just for the hell of it, really enjoyed it without the pressure. Doing the same this Wed too with a run in to Liverpool. The tree went up last week, I hate it goin up to early and me and the neighbour put a few lights up round the house the same night, a damn good excuse for a 'swift half' too! Speaking of the neighbours, we've planned a mulled wine and egg nog night xmas eve, which is basically an excuse to sup all things you wouldn't normally do... why not, only once a year! So the only things left to do is buy the grub. Oh, and cut some holly & ivy for a few more decorations. And the best bit for me about Christmas, getting out with the dogs, especially on Boxing day, with friends all off for the holidays.
