andyfr1968 772
I really don't get this open coffin thing at all. I know it's each to their own but seeing dead boddies ain't too nice for me. I've only ever seen two, the first was a lad I was out for a motorbike ride with, he lost it on a left hand bend and slid into oncoming traffic and a car ran right over him. The other was after my mum after see topped herself and a WPC asked me to identify the body lying under a sheet in the hall. If I never see another dead person, it will be too soon.... That's heavy that mate. Yeah, they were both pretty shitty at the time, mate, but it's made me rather pragmatic about death. Shit happens, and all that. Edit to add.... I've just re-read my first post and I really didn't word some of it too well, but you get the point. Edited November 3, 2011 by andyfr1968

We have the wake after the funeral in the boozer or at the house. We don't dig the grave or bury the departed but I know it's tradition with Jamaicans over here, that the Males at the funeral take turns on the shovel to bury their dead. littlefish 596
Open caskets are commonplace in some cultures,I went to one home in Manila years ago when the guy was on view, glass over the coffin to stop the flies,it was all souls eve a few nights back, entire families visit the cemetary, sleep around the grave or eat, drink, throw a small party for the deceased,North Cemetary in Manila approx 10,000 people live in the place, inhabiting the tombs and small shanty-shacks,some cultures are just more comfortable with death and the dead than some western societies. yeah that's not a problem, my point was that some f'ckers were taking pics of the body with their phones! While I do find that weird, I think it is just a sign of the times.

Lab 10,979
f*****g looking at dead bodies Just an empty husk mate, nothing morbid about spending a few minutes with the shell of a relative or friend who is no longer around. Just cos their dead, they are still your kin. I don't see anything morbid about it, in fact I've given a parting kiss to a stiff and Mackem it wasn't at all sexy Tb has slapped the lips on many a stiff.................... While I do find that weird, I think it is just a sign of the times. you're right bud. I know it's a completely different thing altogether but I always find that quite amusing at concerts. You watch next time you see a live performance on TV or actually go to a concert......90% of the people at the front will be stood there with their phones filming the concert. So at the end of the concert, instead of having stood and enjoyed it they won't have seen much of it cos they're stood with their stupid feckin phones in front of their faces, but at least they'll have really shakey footage with crap sound on it to enjoy. It's just bizarre, some people are obsessed with their phones, it's like they can't do anything without filming it on their phones!............wierd habit IMO! Soon the only memories people will have will be those recorded on phones, they won't have memories in their f'ckin heads like normal people have!
