running white dogs on lamp

thought id share this,i was talking to an old friend ages back and he swears that he would never own or use a white dog for lamping purely because of its color,dont get me wrong this guy knows his stuff and has done more than his fair share but i have in the past been out lamping with a mate that owned a white minshaw type that would catch many a hare and rabbit.what he was saying is that a white dog would stand out like a sore thumb when actually lamping.what are your views on this because personally i dont think it makes any difference what color dog you lamp with unless its alluminous green lol i guess some people are just superstitious

my mate runs a white dog with no bother except when theres a bit of blood flowing from him or the quarry ,it stands out a mile on his coat and he will tell you that himself otherwise the dog is bang on

yeh true, when we get a chase n my mates got his black and white collie x we just stick a cow bell on it nd chuck it in a field full of fresian cows

one of the biggest old wives tales out there..the quarry couldnt care what colour the dog is thats trying to catch it .mind you years ago a white pup was hellish to get rid of. if someones near enough to see what colour your dog is in the night they have allready seen you way before .

I'm lamping a 14 month old bitch who's dark brindle. I'm starting to leave her off the slip and walking at heel some of the time. I'm often wishing she had some white bits as most of the time I can't see her, even when she's right next to me.

Have a look at white colour lurcher thats retrieved a ''Fox'' & then look at a black lurcher thats retrieved a fox .& as already been said if you have to hide lol
