  1. Like above said paint something on the back side before laying . We use sbr bond . We don't do it for the adhesion as such but a long time ago we layed a few for a small step at my boss house and we "spotted them" . I know it's a cardinal sin but it was my bosses house and he didn't give a shit as it was a small step to his shed . Years later they have weathered and got a slight green tint as they do and you could see where the spots were as those areas had stayed unweathered . It's looked horrific . After asking around we were told they are so porous that the slabs had sucked up the cement "j
  2. Thank you grey man for sorting me out with a band and 2 catapults for my kids . People on this site never fail to make me smile

  4. Sorry been a busy few days . It arrived ( I havnt seen it yet) my mum txt me to say my dad is thrilled with it . I phoned the old man a few hours later to ask him and he was fuming . Apparently he was showing it to her and she was looking at both and put the knife in the sheath the wrong way round and has cut part of the sheath somehow . My dad is going to fix it . In his own words " I should have known , don't let her touch it " Will get pics on the weekend for you Massive thanks again to rio hog for helping me out and providing a beautiful knife for a very cheap price
  5. That might not be a bad idea . Will have to have a look at what to do
  6. Found it back in the garden today , God knows how but he's a survivor with a sparrow hawk around here . It's weird , when the dogs are dniffing around or were trying to catch it it can only fly a foot off the ground but has somehow managed to get over the 6ft fencing . His wing does look a bit gammy tho Undecided as to weather to put it out its misery or keep catching and real easing him in the hope he gets better and keeps out my garden
  7. That's a very good point
  8. I agree in principle it just depends on numbers . I would imagine travellers will have more fighting experience than the average guy and less to lose than a bloke with s bricks and mortar house who could easily be found for revenge attacks etc. It's understandable why people wouldn't want to go mob handed into a gypsy camp and square up to them

  12. So true . I remember hearing Steven fry on QI I think talking about nature and how people assume it's all lovely but in reality animals and birds live their life on the edge of death and on edge at every given point. Think it was something to do with Darwin or something . Stuck with me .
  13. No sign of the baby even tho it was pretty weak after dogs had a go in it . Never seen anything like that before close up but it was amazing being so close to the hawk and watching it work .
  14. Having a smoke in the back garden chatting to Mrs when my 2 dogs started going nuts under the trampoline in the corner of the fenced garden . Between the 2 of them a young blackbird flies out slightly wounded so I call dogs off and put them inside so me and Mrs can get the young one and get it out the garden . While Mrs is catching the baby 2 adults are half mobbing her . Give her her due she didn't pussy about and got the baby so we took it out on to the lane out back of the row of houses to put it in the school field . Less than 2 metres a sparrow hawk (we think) swings down to try get the c

  17. What's the rules in these clubs ? Is it like a all you can eat Buffett or is it car keys in a fruit bowl type thing
  18. Got my nice from Rio hog this morning , old man was chuffed to bits. It really is a stunning knife that in the end I found hard to hand over. He loved the bog oak and then went out of the room to show me his wooden bowls he had turned using bog oak a while back (apparently soaked in amonia). Can't thank Rio enough for sorting me out and thanks to others on here who have offered me knives aswell . Thanks to yok aswell for sorting a sheath for me . generosity of people on this site is unbelievable
