  1. There was an article in The Field a few months back on female hunt staff. There are several female full time hunt staff, including huntsmen that do a flesh round. I'll see if i can get the article next time I'm at my Mother's and post the hunt names. Ug
  2. The pilot and co-pilot in that American film got disciplined for war crimes, for killing the wounded Iraqi. If you listen to the vid, at about 1min in you can hear him say 'he's wounded, kill him'.
  3. Like DIDO.1 says the best thing to do is use there own tactic against them. One of the hunts on youtube has followers in cars with orange flashing lights which will follow the sabs/monitors where ever they go. If they (the sabs) are films like they film the hunt they get very upset about it pretty quickly. I love following the hunt when I have the time, but would gladly give up some of that time to follow a hunt monitor with a camera filming them. I reckon if we all did that they would pretty quickly get sick of it and piss off. Ug
  4. I have been invited to help the friend of a friend with his red deer hind cull. I intend on using my Remmington 700 .243. I am after some advice on what kind of ammunition to use. The deer will be highland reds, with an estimated body weight of 6-12 stone. Previously I have used this rifle for roe deer with 100gr Winchester rounds. What would be your reccomendation of round for red hinds? Thanks Ug
  5. Ive used the battery acid method to good effect on fox and rabbit skins, but never tried anything bigger. Give it a go and let us know how you get on. http://www.ssrsi.org/Onsite/bunny.htm Ug
  6. I had my shotgun licence for 6 months before applying for my FAC. Was granted multi shot semi auto shotgun, .22lr and .243 on first licence. They are all Chief Constable approved land only at the minute, but have been told that that will be re-assessed after 3yrs. I did complete my DSC 1 whilst the application was being processed. This was with Essex Police. Ug
  7. Sorry Matt_Hooks but you are talking absolute bollocks. Pit Bulls are like any other dog breed, there are good and bad examples. I was in America recently and met several pitbulls. They were all perfectly well mannered, due to their owners socialising them from a young age and enforcing boundaries, like you would any other dog. They are undoubtedly powerful animals, so if they do fight they inflict bad injuries, but so are Bullmastiffs, Rottweilers and other large well muscled dogs. Do a search in the general talk section for the top 5 most dangerous dogs. I think the thread will surpris
  8. I wouldn't piss on the RSPCA if they were on fire. See the Self Help thread pinned at the top for details why. Dont worry, the dog will have shite recall and will be for sale on here in a few weeks; 'Saluki cross from top imported bloodlines, unspoilt just needs finishing off. £200 or swap for new air rifle...
  9. Brock dog looking well Jamie, glad to see he is still doing the buisness.
  10. Thanks Tiff, for the kind words. Of all the dogs on your yard, I'm not ashamed to admit that Jugs is my favourite. I have never met such a character. I will definitely be back one day, hopefully within the next 12 months. Take care Ug
  11. Went back onto the barren featureless wastes of the Canadian prairie. Another 21 days of living under canvas and eating boil in the bag meals...
  12. Although I didn't do anymore hunting during that trip I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my time. It was really nice to spend time in the company of like minded people and see some quality dogs work. I also saw some amazing wildlife. Most of the time I was so excited I forgot I had my camera with me, but here are some of the other photos I took. These tubes were on the under side of a bridge. Kye told me that they are built by some kind of wasp. The wasps shape these nests out of mud for their larvae. This was a large cricket which spent a lot of time watch Ratkilla and I in
  13. The next day was spent relaxing around the property. We arranged to go lamping that night, but suffered a mass attack of narcelepsy. I woke to bird song at 0530. I breifly worried that I had been left behind before thinking 'f**k it', turning over and going back to sleep. The day after we resolved to lamp. After another delicious massive meal, this time BBQ, (thanks Tiff!) we headed out in Ben's truck. A brief stop for supplies and gas saw me buying some crisps (chips) and milk. After seeing the label I had second thoughts, but quickly decided that the extra protein would do me goo
  14. Ive recently been working in Canada. I was given a week off in country and decided to see some of the USA, and hopefully some American hunting. A quick pm exchange with Tiff later and I was on my way to Lincoln Airport, Nebraska. Kye, Tiff and Ratkilla had been at the Loomis Coyote Dog Sale (see Tiff's post in the Running Dog Section) and picked me up on their way home. This was extremely generous of them. But even more generous was them allowing me to stay with them for a week. Lincoln Airport was very pleasant and the weather was lovely after the freezing plains of Alberta. T
  15. I dont understand. Whats with Blackwater? The only Blackwater is that dodgy mercenary company which got thrown out of Iraq for an 'inventive' interpretation of their rules of engagement...
  16. If you need someone to come over and work your hounds for you, I am off work until the 7 Oct and will gladly take them for a run. cheers Ug
  17. 'Men act while women chatter' its one of the Fallschirmjager commandments.
  18. I had a look at the other videos suggested. They raise some good points. I was especailly impressed with the hunt which has cars with orange lights on following hunt monitors. Great idea. If we could get more people following and filming monitors I reckon they would sharp get sick of it and piss off. Some kind of national monitor the monitors scheme. Seeing the monitor complain that she was being followed and harassed was comic as well. She was the one following and harassing the hunt.

    mods

I think it is for making really good posts into articles, like those shown on the front page (ie the terrier hunting stuff by Richard Christian). Ive tried pressing it, but it seems only mods can do it.
  20. My sister has a pet JRT with dew claws on its rear legs...
  21. You are right it is a shame to part with a dog which has served you well. But the point I think that you are missing is that the dog let him down. The dog failed. The dog didn't try its best to please him that day. It failed. If a dog worries sheep and the owner is prosecuted there can be a lot more to pay than just the price of one ewe. There could be fines for having a dog out of control in a public place. As well as the damage to the flock. A dog chasing sheep may only catch one, but it could make many others abort their lambs through stress. There is such a thing as knowing the la

i no a crap place to for a fiver, shold do her a mate Oi don't give him ideas, if it gets that cheap he can eat both meals himself lol! Slug and Lettuce is half price food on a Monday, and it is good stuff!
  23. Well done milo. Good on you for being responsible. Its a shitter, but doing the right thing is not always easy. cheers Ug
  24. I thought dum dum bullets was just a catch all phrase for an expanding round? In any case, there is nothing illegal about shooting an animal with an expanding round, indeed it is required under the deer laws. Just a case of a slow news day and some fox carcasses inappropriately disposed of. Media are parasites who would sell their mothers if it meant a few more column inches.
