  1. Usually the dogs don't have much problem stopping a pig like this. Dogs such as these make it look like child's play "USUALLY" and this boar wasn't much exception eventhough my young dog did show her inexperience on this boar. She held with force and strength and wanted to fight the pig instead of hold it with finesse and skill. I was kinda on foot. I pulled up to a field and let the dogs hunt the creek and brush behind it. I got put and walked but didn't walk far before they found this boar. Sometimes I ease around in a UTV and let the dogs hunt and other times I walk. I nor
  2. About 50/50 between crop fields and mesquite thickets and brushy creek bottoms. Usually during deer season I do a lot more crop work at night and keep the dogs out of the woods where the hunters hunt. So far I've stayed in good favor with the deer hunters and am allowed to keep on with how I'm going about it. My favorite is crop hunting though as I get to see much more action.
  3. Seen this reported today and thought yall might like see the stats Chicago vs Houston Population of Chicago is 2.7 million Houston is 2.1 million Average income in Chicago is $38,600 Houston is $37,000 % African American. Chicago = 39% Houston = 24% % Hispanic. Chicago = 29% Houston = 44% % Asian. Chicago = 5.5% Houston = 6% % Whites. Chicago = 28.7% Houston = 26% Concealed carry. Chicago = no Houston = yes # of gun stores.
  4. Hard to tell much about him from pictures but he is considerably larger than your estimation. 240lbs on the weight and above average tusks. I'm not to big on strictly teeth pictures unless I have someone with me that wants to pose with the big and hold the pigs head good where the teeth show well.
  5. Yes I take care of almost everything myself. She is a little sore today but wound looks really good and she was out and about all day today.
  6. Just barely got started tonight and was sent home because of a small puncture that took a while to stop bleeding. Kinda a minor wound but enough to make the young dog sore for a while. It was Lapua's first really good pig to successfully hold for me. She had some top quality help on the opposite ear from my stag but being on the other side of the pig, he didn't show up well in the pictures. Lapua being inexperienced on big rank boars such as this took a little punishment. Took 2 hits to the vest and one just below it. Other than taking the unnecessary punishment, she did
  7. This is mine. He isn't an F1 cross but rather line bred or bred best to best for generations out of coyote dog stock. To illustrate how hard of a dog he is, I have posted a picture of him holding a big toothy boar caught 1 out by him.
  8. This cross and the line breeding of them are the supreme coyote dogs of the planes states in the US. I use one for boar. Very fascinating dogs but in fairness, the stag (what we call them) is about the only working sight hound or long dog left working in the US that's not crossed up with other catch dogs like my finder holders
  9. Stihl or Husqvarna for me as well. I have a Husqvarna and it's been a great trouble free saw for over a decade now. I like the chain and teeth on the Stihl though and Stihl is good quality stuff usually if staying away from the low end of things
  10. If your against it or don't want to do it for what ever reason then great, more power to you but don't try to make it law and take away more freedoms than you are already stripped of.
  11. When we loose hunting dogs in the US when out hunting, we will often leave our jacket or something with our scent on it where we turned the dog out / parked. Come back and check it couple times a day or next morning. Usually the dog will be waiting somewhere close by and will come when called. Not very likely to recover a dog this way after its been missing a couple days though. Jacket needs to be left upon giving up and leaving, not a day or two later though.
  12. You tried calling them with varmint calls to gun?
  13. Normally at about this age they start shedding their puppy teeth.
  14. I was setting a 320 once and it went off. I'm not sure how I got hit exactly and I wasn't caught in it but the thing come very very close to breaking my thumb. Hit the side of my thumb on the knuckle next to the thumbnail. Knocked the hide off it and I had blood seaping out from under the side of my nail. Nail turned black and sluffed off. Thumb was instantly numb and I couldn't bend it at that knuckle. Scared me pretty bad when I realized I'd been hit but luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Sure tuff setting a 320 without the use of a thumb but i went on
  15. Ever hear of salindra. My government has give tens upon tens of millions to individual made up companies like this that they claim they have thoroughly researched. Only to have the company disappear within a few months of the public finding out about the secret funds given to them. Kinda like the 40 million dollar gas station that shouldn't have cost 1 million we supposedly built in the dessert in Iraq for the Iraqi people that will never open or pump a drop of gas. I doubt there was even any lobbing for these funds and these bogus companies. I'm kinda speculating now but we
  16. Bush was not a Republican at best. Not a conservative. Got to go a little farther right than the Bushs to get to conservatism. The problems excited well before the Bushs. Matter of fact thier is always problems with government. Bush like most didn't do much to address these problems and grew many off them by various mean and reasons. Takes a good constitutional conservative to take control of government and not be part of the problem. Lobbies and big corporate money have a way of swaying the minds of good people who do not firmly govern by the constition. Liberals, D
  17. Thanks! He is a very interesting dog to look at, even more so in real life. Further more he is a very very regal acting dog when at home or during most down time. Very hard not to like him even if you didn't know him as such an extreme hunter.
  18. I totally agree. That's why my vote is going for Ted Cruise. I think Cruise will be just as effective at as Donald at fixing whats broken, but do so in a way that reinstates or constitution, it's values, and it's true meanings. Donald is an awsome business man and abiding by our Constitution would certainly be the best thing for business and the health of this country that could possibly be done BUT Donald in NOT a constitutional conservative. I'm afraid he would over correct and put America on the path to becoming an evil empire. Just my personal fears about Donald. That's why i
  19. just hope it's the one who does right by the us, and sends a warning over to here, uk , to get our house in order I don't know what's going on with yalls government but i hope and pray who ever gets elected here, reclaims our country's integrity and cleans house and puts these criminals we have in office now in prison for crimes of domestic and foreign terrism. And starts holding our people responsible for their cover ups. The reason Donald is doing so well is because of how sick so many people are with our rogue government. They think his boldness will undo a lot of stuf
  20. I definitely would be interesting to see an Donald Trump president. Not so sure it's what we need but i definitely would walked back a lot of the Obama policies. I am more for Ted Cruise. He is the most right wing of them all. Very sharp man and I feel like he stands behind our Constitution more than anyone else. Ted has my vote but i wouldnt be disappointed if trump won either I do t thinnk. So long as we dog get one of the establishment republicans like Bush we will be alright. Nice group of candidates this time to chops from
  21. Sorry about you and your families loss.
  22. I've hunted both ways and prefer the dogs like the ones i have now that do it all instead of having to have multiple dogs to fill the same role 1 finder holder does. Usually I run 2 dogs but really only 1 is needed in most cases.
  23. All but 1 of my dogs have wolfhound in them. Have one female that is aprox 3/4 and she is the smallest dog I have and the most agile. My dogs are pig dogs. If i was starting my own line of pig dogs, i would just line breed the hell out of a stag x dane cross Wouldn't think there would be much sense in using a big dog such as a wolfhound or dane in any cross used for catching rabbits. Unless you wanted to catch bigger stuff such as pigs. 3/4 wolfhound female 2 of her pups. 1/3 wolfhound, 1/3 deerhound, and 1/3 greyhound
