This is a bull mastiff x shes 2 generation down i bred this dog she was very athletic with a more pitbully apperance this dog was bred in the early 90 s ,the trouble was they were very protective and overtly aggressive with other dogs they were huge in size and weight but very athletically built the bitch in this picture is 8 month old (roughly)

I see your point but its not just the working parents its the bloodline behind the dog and previous (proven) litters as a good dog is not guarenteed to produce working off spring. Also a dog taking fox around 10 a season if its single handed and never jibbs its doing all its asked of maybe they dont see 6-9 foxs a week let alone catch that many as in my eyes there the hardest quarry to catch ,my opinion only.but, 2-3 times a night 2-3 times a week, week in week outover the course of the season , thats an average of 150 foxs a season ,for one dog not many dogs would ever heal up until summer .

great post mate finally somone speaking the truth on here, instead of ego manics . im in the same boat mate got a couple of young dogs one 21 month old its far from a world beater lol ,very very slow to mature, and a host of other faults too, but i bred her and im not giving up on her either,i bought my other young dog in and shes very similarly bred but is 10 month and completly opposite needs holding back ! Im not rushing it, next season will be somthing to look forward to merry xmas BULL.

what age does every 1 star bulking their dogs up
BULL replied to ebony1's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
was looking for a dog that would end up bulky when i was younger until a good lurcher man asked me how many body builders i had seen win the london marathon!!!!. yes but there not uselly run in compaison to a marathon runner more a series of sprints and all the best sprinters are very heavily muscled. -
lets see the pics of your lurchers at their peak condition
BULL replied to ebony1's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs

i think al pups are different as stated ,ive brought a few on and one a whippet/greyxcollie grey was taken out from a very young age (not let off just sniffing watching etc) and i let her have a run each month from 6 month 1 run a month each rabbit was hand picked mid field etc she just wasnt intrested at all ,i was getting frustrated ,she was laid up for 5 month and after styarted catching fairly well she was now 2years old,but her leg sustained a bad break. next dog was a 8month old pup which was up an running she was a bullx been working since 5 month the difference in these two was amazin

shit, didnt know it was illigal to hunt with running dogs so hare coursing and foxing are banned like here then?
-
was looking at hunting in california ,found this blogg about bullx s from an american cousin worth a look as theres always questions on here about bullxs he says what he thinks. Dogs of Grit Blog A house aint a home if there aint a dog in the yard « This is D.O.G. BULL LURCHER BULL GREYHOUND LURCHER The Bull Lurcher is a very unheard of breed and fits into D.O.G’s hunting class. It also happens to be one of the best dog’s I’ve owned and is one of the inspirations of this site. The Bull Lurcher built for speed, power and a good nose all at once. It should be a low key

i have bred father to daughter and the pups are very small in comparison to the parents(this is a trait of in breeding) also the pup i kept is the runt of the litter she is a bull greyhound shes 16 month and 21.5 tts , im very honest about her shes very very slow at picking things up shes constantly making mistakes but slowly very slowly learning, shes not extremly fast and hasnt shown signs of much prey drive natural hunting ability , I honestly think she is slightly retarded (another trait that is from inbreeding ) but i strongly belive she will come good but it will take longer than normal
-
this is a small one 21.5 to the shoulder big heart? not sure time will tell .

Bull , where in NZ are your family and friends ? I would imagine its not such a big move if you got family and friends out here , we never had any except for 1 or 2 people I'd met on the net but none near Dunedin, its taken a while to get settled in and to get underway with the hunting, I think it just depends how your luck runs when you get here. If I'm honest if you had offered me a ticket back to Wales in the first 5-6 months I would have snatched it off you , I just could'nt settle here.. ,then we bought a house instead of renting and other things fell into place and I'm glad I came

i was reliably told that if you feed a mixture off complete and raw then due to the different times it takes to be deigested it can have an adverse affect on dogs nutritional gains.so i just kept to either one for 4-5 months each as a trial period, the dogs have looked nowhere near as good as when i mixed my meals so went back to my original diet , and they are loads better in condition and health . eukanuba(working dog in winter) iams green in the summer this is served as directed by weight ratio ,i then add that weight again in tripe ,sprinkle sa37 and 2 cod oil tabs this is then split int
