The original post is nothing to do with sheep being worried it's about a farmer using is rights to shoot a hound because he as issues with the owners of the hounds. In my eyes you are not much of a man to do something like that to a hound or dog I wonder what sort of way he treats his own dogs

Cargol don't farmers get student vets for night lambing and anyway if I was having their money with no mortgage I would be happy to do a months lambing. percent of farmers work today is done off a tractor. don't farmers get money off government if they get cow with tb. And do they still milk cows by hand and carry small bail hay farmer's of today don't do half the work of farmers of years ago it's common sense.

Hounds we were talking about lads not dogs hounds should be totally different to your average dog still can't get my head around how some people think a dog should be shot for walking across field causing no harm to man no beast and when the hounds were shot it was not lambing time I know the law is the law but it is not always right as we all know . I wish some of you clowns would read the original post of which I don't find fare.

Love men of the law. Can't believe people siding with the farmer let's just hope the next unfortunate innocent dog he shoots next time as a owner who will not waste time phoning police and make this farmer very unfortunat.. If you read the story he shot hound to get at the hunt nothing else . And your right I wouldn't like to see terrier shot but if fatman and fox digger dogs got shot I'd like to see their faces arms out saying shit happens it's the law and it's very unfortunate what a pair of clowns. If the dog is chasing sheep then yes it should be shot in my book but this farmer knew ho

I would love to be there the day your terrier slips the lead fat man and it runs up the field innocent and gets shot in half tap you on the back and say unfortunately that's the law

Paulnix who's sheep have been attacked by hunting dogs ?

I think the factor to this is you never see a poor farmer most have fencing ,sheep Sheering , bailing and many more things done by contractors which if they were poor they would have to do they self's. They nearly always got expensive vehicles and vehicles that they don't need if they were that poor let's face it if you were poor would you be driving around on a quad no you wouldn't you be walking. They don't work half so hard as farmers years ago for example of cleaning cows out now they wouldn't get off tractor. most have been handed down farms for generations which leave no mortgage for

All my experience with dogs and sheep in same field sheep run to a corner and dog just carries on through I think they would have to be chased hard causing stress to abort lambs. The farmer who shot the hounds now don't care that he shot hounds and the police won't be worried about it and will not take any further action obviously . The sad part is he has shot 2 hounds doing what they were bred to do of no falt of their own just because is family have fallen out with the hunt over politics . I would definitely pay him a visit and make him sorry for is actions and the only way to do that is to

Abbeyfeale Harriers Annual Hunting Festival
foxbolter replied to madrarua's topic in Hunting With Hounds
Hounds of the highest standards should be invited on merit and that shouldn't mean the most amount of quarry caught in a season and why even from Ireland why not England and Wales everyone raves about harriers why not see how English and Welsh and fell hounds do in shamrock country have anyone in Ireland seen other packs over there and what was the outcome -
I agree foxdropper I take a dislike to a terrier that let's a fox push it about but have great respect for a terrier that will try is best. My preference is a small terrier as for the size of earth's and quarry I work I can manage with a small one but I couldn't manage with a big one if you understand. And this is why I worry about size and say it's easy to size up but not down. All the best

Abbeyfeale Harriers Annual Hunting Festival
foxbolter replied to madrarua's topic in Hunting With Hounds
Don't see the reason why they have joint meets on the festival your more likely to have better hunting with just one pack -
Foxbolter never mentioned a Bayer did he people think a bolting dog is a Bayer which is not always the case if you had a fox in a very deep rock pile a Bayer wouldn't do because Freddie fox would lay there comfortable where as if a little mixer got in there would he then be so comfortable and may then pass the little dog and bolt so which then would be the best bolting dog ? Bolter don't always mean cowards that's just my point. I do think that there is too many people with big strain of terrier there's not enough looking after the smaller ones it worries me because I think it's easy to up s

Love these people that think a big hard terrier is best they forget about dropping half a dozen holes because they big hard terrier can't get on to a little vixen or August cub. I don't think that it is always the case of a terrier is a coward because sometimes a fox passes the dog in the contact area there is more room cause the dog is smaller and fox get passed in the tumble of a fight and a bolt is made . So is that little bolting dog a coward ? But in my book the dog should stay if needed till dug too. There dogs for different occasions in my opinion . Not many terriers are ideal for bo
