  1. lol! Pekins are meant to be bumbling little idiots but mine roost 20 foot up in the trees! they only use their lovely house i built em to lay in. i love banties, they are all so funny!
  2. Nice birds! Will you be selling any hatching eggs later at all? Would be very interested if you are!
  3. Afternoon lads, what do you all do with dropped feathers? I make jewellery from feathers and always looking for new stuff. Will gladly pay to cover postage and a sensible price for the feathers. Bird of prey earring always go well but I have just used the last of my horded stash from a roadkill tawny owl! If anyone can help give me a shout! Many thanks Donna
  4. Pick the cones and sell em on ebay for 'blackwater' aquarium keepers I kid you not, i'm only saying this now cos I have run out of em
  5. How about this logic then...... Say he DOESN'T go rabbiting in summer, and says no to the farmer. Do you really think the farmer will wait till winter or to you think he'll get someone else in/gas the burries/ shove myxo rabbits down the hole? A pest WILL be controlled if the land owner want it done, either legally or not. Since controlling the rabbits on my bit of ground, not only have me, the ferts and the dog eaten well, but the voles have returned as they aren't out competed. Since the voles have returned, the barn owls are back and nesting. The hares have returned and I am delig
  6. Aw come on it ain't all silly men, some of us are women
  7. ...... please wait whilst brain reboots ......
  8. Eat them yourself, I wouldn't waste a scone on dogs Use em as bait for the squirrels. but hardly enough on a tree rat for me and the dog
  9. NEW ONE ON ME .ILL LOOK INTO IT. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM BEFORE. THERES ONLY 2/3 THINGS ILL NOT FEED TO MY GUYS AND THATS A NEW ONE. 1IB OF RAISENS (NO) A DOZEN RAISENS I DONT C MUCH OF A PROBLEM.LOL It was for me too, Still gutted and it was over a year ago I knew not to feed chocolate, but not this. Cracking dogs btw
  10. I was going to ask the same? They have raisins in them which can be fatal for dogs. Unfortunately for me i found out the hard way. Red Dog got hold of some raisins, in 12 hours she went from fighting fit, to depressed, vomiting, howling, fitting, full body contortion, coma, dead. Nothing the vet could do. Please be careful when it comes to dried fruit and dogs.
  11. Well each to their own I suppose, still if anyone wants advice on how to feed raw, give me a shout. I don't want to argue, I don't want to convert the world to BARF. But if you want to feed it and want help from someone who has done it for years, give me a yell. Once more I will say, I DIDN'T say not to feed your dog carbs, or that they wouldn't do well on them. As for my dog buyying a pork chop... Why would he need to? He can catch his own tea
  12. Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods, when my dog can cook or use a tin opener, i will consider tins and cooked to be biologically apropriate. Cats are obligate carnivore as they need the ammino acid taurine that is only found in meat, dogs can produce their own from other ammino acids The reason I didn't discuss cooked foods nor other home made diets, is because the question was for info on B.A.R.F. I also said dogs don't need carbs. They don't. I didn't say they didn't enjoy them or not to feed them. Like I said mine has porridge. Feed what you like, if your dog does well thats fine
  13. Raw meat, bones and offal is all your pet carnivore needs! I've been feeding raw for 20+ years now. Carbs, most dogs enjoy some rice or pasta. Mine prefers porridge. But as a carnivore he has no obligate need for carbs. For a hard worker they provide a welcome boost of energy the same a a sports drink does for us but we don't 'need' it. Veg is the same, if a dog eats a rabbit then yes it will consume some vegetable matter., but with a bigger kill wild dogs will shake out the stomach content and either ignore it or roll in it. Dogs do not have the enzyme required to break down cellulose, th
  14. I lined my ferts run with thick stable matting. They don't worry at it, i put wood chips on top for them. at clean out time i shut em in their hutch, scoop out the chipping and sling a bucket of kennel kleen over it. Smells sweet and takes about 5 mins. I also give em a litter tray in the corner they use, much easier than shovelling ferret shite
  15. mmmmmmmm delicious feel free to send em my way
  16. I am doing this!!!! I reckon burdock leaves in a thick enough layer would work instead of the not easily foragable banana leaves Thank you!
  17. Have a longish lead (not a slip lead for this method) Keep a loop of lead spare in your hand. Walk off with the dog, as SOON as you feel tension, turn around and let go the 'spare'. Say absolutely nothing to the dog The dog will obviously feel the tug on the collar and will turn to follow you. Without breaking stride gather the loop again. Repeat as often as needed. Changing direction abruptly each time. Ignoring sniggering onlookers. The dog will start to look at you as if you have gone completely mental. Still say nothing. I can almost promise that within 10 mins of this, having given
  18. right fellas, I neede some advice..... I'm moving from me truck soon into a static caravan. I will be moving my fish with me into their shiny new tank..... 720 liters! So 720 kilos of weight to support. i am thinking of jacking up the 'van to build a pad of blocks underneath a bit bigger than the footprint of the tank. right up to the floor with summat ontop to prevent damp creeping up. Then I will build similar inside the 'van out of solid timber, to put the tank directly on. The van is sited on a thick concrete pad so I am thinking that so long as my internal and external support pa
  19. If you do use the bottles and find them going green in the summer, put a few inches of water in them add a table spoon of uncooked rice or chicken grain. Screw the top on and give it a damned good shake. Rinse out the rice and refill your shiny clean bottle
  20. I use a giant dog bow in the run area of my set up. If they go for a dip, then it doesn't hurt, they generally dry themselves off before they go up to the hutch. I never use bottle, for the rabbits of the ferts. I reckon it must be really frustrating if they are thirsty but can only lick a drop at a time!
  21. I'm near Glastonbury ish... Pm me ya mobile and i'll text when I'm going Probably next week.
  22. If he does manage a bite, don't snatch your hand away! Gently press it into the ferts mouth, he'll hate it and spit your hand/finger out. Don't be rough doing though, or you may injure him. Teabag was a horrible little nipper, but he's fine now. Took alittle while but stick with it and he'll be ok
