    Cuckoo

Only the male bird calls Cuckoo, they can be very territorial and yes, when a Cuckoo call is heard they often fly around to see where the call is coming from... Taken weekend just gone by myself... Fascinating birds.

  10. He was some character, think the hide he built is a bit overkill mind ha ha... It could take me all spring/summer but I’ll get my photos, time to order another trailcam too.. cheers pal.
  11. Thanks for all the replies gents, some good tips and some are just not my bag... I know from experience it’ll take some amount of effort and patience but I’ll get there, I’ve put peanuts and fruit down, also smeared some logs with peanut butter and fish oil so hopefully get some image in the coming months... 13. Hi all, can anyone tell me the best way to attract badgers please as I do a lot of wildlife photography and would love to capture them on camera. Ive been monitoring a sett for past week and put a good amount of peanuts and fruit out but nothing eaten. Definitely an active sett as I’ve got them on trailcam, seen one and fresh scat in latrines but I’m wanting to photograph them. Any help or advice appreciated.
  14. Whilst in Thailand we visited "Monkey Hill", on the outskirts of Phuket and popular for its families of wild Macaque monkey's that live in there scavenging and pillaging from locals and tourists that visit. The monkey's are very inquisitive and extremely confident of humans but certain individuals could be very aggressive and protective if thought to be under threat. This chap decided to jump on my back and do a little preening of my head and ears before grabbing my glasses and doing a runner, thankfully after a little chasing and gentle persuasion we traded them back for a shiny pen, a trip t
  15. I’ll be driving and walking the Northumberland moors next week to see if there’s any about and paying a visit to see if me old mate from last few year is back yet ?
  16. Cheers buddy, I seen loads of Gecko’s but quite nocturnal and extremely shy - never managed any photos.
  17. Cracking stuff Martin... I’m amazed they’re in the country already, probs another 4 weeks or so before we hear and see em up North.
  18. Taken in Patong,Thailand, a stunning and colourful adult "Common" or "Garden" lizard as they are known, lying on my stomach at the grounds of my hotel to capture this low level mushy image, residents and staff alike appeared to be both intrigued and amused at me, crawling about with my camera - i reckon it was worth the little effort.
  19. Yes, adjust the ISO until you get a shutter speed fast enough to freeze the motion of bird in flight, if exposing against a sky then you’ll have to over compensate on the exposure...
  20. Manual is a totally different ballgame - you set and change your exposure in manual by either changing aperture, shutter speed or ISO... Personally I only use manual for more static subjects and if I want to be creative, 99% of the time I shoot in aperture priority, I set the ISO myself and f stop, if I feel the shutter speed is too slow then I up the ISO.. If you’re shooting in Manual then start off with lowest ISO possible dependant on light, f 7.1 is good for all round sharpness and shutter speed depends on subject but about 1/500th should be minimum really if handheld...
