Went out last Sunday had 18 rabbits, gutting up and I had a few large looking kits in a few of the does. Anyone else had any? Quite early for me unfortunealty I'll have to finish up this season.

Don't mean to be technical but a stoat is a mustelid lol

I don't think it's a threat? All it takes is for a child to put something in their mouth that a rat has just pissed on. It will probally take 3 visits at your neighbours so that's a score a visit I think that's quite good tbh

Yes mate that's fair enough you can have ago yourself but like recently in the news a lady had a rat problem, her next door neighbour said don't worry about ringing a pest controller ill sort them for you. He set a few fenn traps and ended up breaking the front leg of a local prize winning pedigree cat and is now in the process of being sued as he didn't know the laws or legislation on how to use the trap. Sometimes it is best to call a professional in. Just imagine if that was the hand or foot of a toddler?

I've just paid for my level 2 award in pest management and that is the basic qual you need to have a job for a firm in pest control and that doesn't teach you how to kill or catch vermin that its literally legislation and law. That alone cost me a grand, my insurance for the year is 800 and that's real basic! It's a pricey trade to get into

Any game bag mate, my friend uses an old Royal Mail post bag it's very large and can fit about 130 nets in it

Pricing Mole Trapping Jobs Up
Mole man Kent replied to lucky's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
If the farmer is funny about per mole do an hourly rate but be sure to charge a nice amount to cover yours costs -
Real interesting when I hear stories like this, my friend who I shoot with knew of a gamekeeper in surrey who tamed a fox cub after shooting the vixen and apparently it was the best retriever on the shoot
-
Oh right cool mate. Where abouts is that just out of question?

I knew a man who recently died he done surveyes for the e.a and after being splashed in the face by water from a river he died a week later a perfectly healthy man. I have leptospirosis cards if you need them. Handy when you go to the doctors complaining about being ill and they turn you away telling you you've got the common cold and like they said to my friend.

Don't mind a bit of lambing, keeps them hands warm during them cold nights lol -
Hiya mate I have insurance as do a lot of paid work it's definitely worth having and looks aLot more professional. I take it it's a privately owned railway as if it was network rail owns it you'll need a PTs to step foot on there.

Good good nice to hear

Must be a domestic bunny that's comfortable in the wild. When you next out. What locator did you manage to get mate?
-
Bustamunky good to see you getting out. Nice to see you enjoyed our little ferreting trip. I've had quite a few odd coloured ones. Blacks and sandy but never white. Probably this years rabbit as white colours of any prey animal don't tend to be around for so long because they're so visible.

You still need to put a tunnel or cage over the top of the fenn trap if it is in open though mate. So the neophobia will kick in then

Ferrets have always been stolen down my way. One particular family are know for it. They're so called ferreters, but when it comes to summer and they have no use for the ferrets they either sell em or end up loosing em (where they don't have locators). It's a wrongen thing to do, especially when the ferrets have years of breeding in them. My poor old neighbour had it done 4 times and now doesn't even bother keeping them. A life long passion cut short because of thieving b*****ds

It's not just about loosing my butcher who pays me a decent few quid for my rabbits and other game but for my sport too. The place I have for rabbits, I trap, snare and ferret l, originally I was getting 30s and 40s now I'm hitting 6 or 7 and they're tough bunnies as they know the crack. So instead of being like everyone else asking for ferreting permission I'm offering an extra free service as a good will gesture.

Different Ferrets Work Different?
Mole man Kent replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Not always down to the ferret mate! You need to think of the bury structure! Some are going to have bump ends and some wont. Your polecat might of be giving the run about and leaving the bunny at the bump end because the thrill of the chase might of been more attractive than trying to bolt one stubborn rabbit.
