  1. Yeah it's actually sods law had another man phone me Sunday and ask, he's got 35 acres, in my head I'm going why are you askingb so fooklng late!
  2. Touchy touchy, think you're missing my point, if it was made illegal for anyone to carry out pest control without qualifications OR grandfathers rights don't you think the industry would be better for those doing it proffesionally. Way to many forum warriors on here! Brave keyboard fingers, with brave comments, hid behind a computer.
  3. It would be nice if pest control laws could be amended, so that it is only legal for qualified and insured professions to carry out what they do, like farriers, but on the other hand would lifelong unqualified, yet very good pestys pay to qualify theirselves? Even though paper proof doesn't mean a thing in "the practical world"
  4. Nick Wherebouts In the southeast are you mate ? I've got a few gills I'll be breeding this spring
  5. Depressing thought 6 odd months without ferreting, I've had 2 people asking for rabbit control today, so I'll get out tomorrow and have my spade at the ready
  6. That's good thinking b.p.r I wouldn't of thought of that, good on ya son
  7. Same with horses ferrets can get head shy jumping and lounging towards the hole they can get a bit scared. Take some time away from rabbiting get a bit of pipe and just keep getting the ferret used to being picked up from the hole. You spend half hour every night handling it, you'll see a change. Don't make the mistake of enticing her out with food because eventually the ferret will think all of the grub is on the surface and not want to go down at all.
  8. I can't be sending another mans pictures he's probally on this forum. Tbh it just looks like a small sized albino hobb it doesn't look like a stoat at all but his friend breeds the stoat and I said I'm willing to travel to Devon to pick one up. Where did yo that pic from ands?
  9. Of course it's inevitable but in my experience after watching a rabbit/rabbits hole hop for a good half hour they think f**k coming out! I'm not against longnets just got my preferences I guess. Down my me the earths are all huge and sandy and watching em hop gets on my nerves. When he hits that purse net he's mine.
  10. I'm talking to a man atm who sent me a pic of his hob which is half part stoat and mostly ferret and tbh he is a tiny little thing and he also reckon they are the nuts at working but unfortunealty he's a jaffer
  11. A lot of people use them for big earths because they want to save time on netting up but then you get the head ache of hole hoppers. Then the rabbits hole hopping soon sees you and then without doubt next event to happen is a dig. I've got longs nets but I prefer to purse net and stop net where I can. Nothing more frustrating than jumping when they bolt then they go back down the nearest hole!
  12. Yes tiercel I purchased it yesterday on amazon for the costly fee of £2.00 lol, well worth buying! Seen all sorts on YouTube!
  13. I heard recently of a man who said he had a stoat x ferret, I don't know how true this is? Or even if it's biologically possible. I've had a life long obsession with all mustelids. My question is does any one know of anyone that has a pet stoat or weasel and do they work them? Let me know fellas , thanks
  14. Army surplus stores selling separate webbing pouches that can attach to a belt, or a falconry vest is handy for ferreting
  15. I caught a live mole I'm Wales on a friends farm it didn't bit me luckily but the screech he let out was quite creepy I checked the traps at night and he was caught by the back leg as soon as I pulled the trap and the mole out of the ground he screeched.
  16. My friend in Wales catches rats in his pheasant pens with Mars bar and he really is remote Wales. Anything that smells edible surely they're going to give it a go?
  17. I nipped out literally to get some ferret grub today had meself four then the wind got the better of me so home it was.
  18. Good pics b.p.r, I can't wait to get my little boy out ferreting. He's only 1 bless him as soon as he's old enough! It will be a proud dad moment lol
  19. It's rare I go out ferreting without a dig but I'm not shovel shy and at least my ferrets are sticking with them stubborn bunnies. I'm going to have a couple of hours out tommorow morning I think after all this talk of ferreting lol
  20. This particular place I do is pretty local so I can snare it and trap it so I'm not to fussed. I'll also get out at night the the air rifle and lamp. I'm surprised I've hardly had any mxy rabbits this year and it's been so wet and mxy thrives in the wet. Ill have a couple more ferreting trips n see how it goes. Yeah I know they breed all year round lol.
