    im using 8" tapered 25mm to 20 mm doubled up it feels good only problem is it feels as if it bottoms out at about my eye socket at my normal reach i normaly rest my draw hand on my ear can i get away with adding another inch to my bands without causing any issues to power ? or will i have to change the taper ? maybe 30mm to 25 mm ? thanks for replys

    thanks L7 and blackbriar im well happy to have a real catty now its so much fun to go out walking the dog find a few forks cut them down and turn them into a catty i have very few wood work tools so its proper fun to finish it off with a knife a saw sandpaper and a dremil multi tool the next one is a mini slingshot for my boy to target shoot while were out get him on it while he is young and keen. i think why im crap with this new one is because my aim point is different to my last catty the forks are much narrower on this one ill get there in the end

    It's finished and not a bad job not perfect but I'm happy only problem is I can't hit a barn door with it think I better get practicing ;-)

    Can someone post a step by step or point me in the right direction of one of making your own catty from a fork taken from a tree not a ply cut one I have 2 really nice ones and don't want to cock them up any help would be great thanks

    As above it's my pups first proper season he is a full on live wire in the garden if excited he is full pelt and just cocking about in general I've seen him take a few knocks nothing too bad all taken in his stride I just wonderd if it's worth getting him a general check over before the season starts I do know my dog and don't think he is carrying any injuries but while out for evening walks with my dads dog and others it's hard to tell by watching him as he paces himself for example if he's out with my dads jackX patterdale he only jogs if he's out with my mates collie he runs as fast as that

    Keep it for now and work with it as once the season starts you can bet your bottom dollar someone will loose a dog or have one layed up and be a genuine dog man in genuine need of a good dog better to go to someone like that I think good luck though

    What in the actual pharmacy bit or else where ? I looked where all the tube grip bandages knee an elbow support things wasn't there either I bet I've over looked it now you've said that lol

    Yes that's what I think I was just surprised when I looked it up and thought it was uncommon in my area as never hear my mates mention it who are tree surgeons but hey the fork I have from it looks proper smart I might even pay someone else to finish it off I'd hate myself if I cocked it up because it's so nice ;-)

    As above my bank card has expired and I'm waiting for a new one to be sent out so can't buy online or over the phone I have cash and plenty of fuel in the car but I can't find anywhere that sells them I've tryed 2 asdas 1 average size and one massive superstore none have a clue what I'm after! tryed boots they know what I'm after but don't stock it anymore super drug don't sell it either I live in Somerset so anyone know of anywhere local I can buy it from would be great or just a list of shops that do sell it and I'll hunt around and see if I have the same shops local

    Yep early litters are expensive and get cheaper as the months go on untill about now when there free I would normally give away kits or just make enough off the litter to cover costs of feeding them no need to be greedy

    That's the leaf that I think is maple the next one is the split colour maple I think and the last one is hazel I think ;-) please let me know if there not ideal proportions to work into a function able catty cheers

    If I had a mould I'd make my own lead ones as I make my own leads for fishing I'll have to try and find one think I'm going to go with hex nuts an see how I get on think id struggle with head shots at the mo ;-) more practice needed for that

    I'm not great with identifying trees but looked up the leaf from the tree I took it from and it's wild maple or maple not sure also have some from hazel I think will put up some pics once there stripped the one I think is maple is quite smart one half is light wood the other is dark like its half dead half alive but it's strong so think it's all good might be wrong though will post pics soon

    As above is there any to avoid as to hard to work or for any other reasons also what is best I buggerd up my two forks I collected going back out again looking today so any info would be great thanks

    I was thinking 9.5s might have been too heavy seems I was wrong lol I'll try m10 hex nuts what about marbles are they any good ? I can get cheap 30 odd for 30p in local shop thanks for replys

    I'm getting there fired hundreds of shots target practice still a little wobbly but getting much better after learning to aim and shoot properly ;-) one question should a body shot on a woody at about 10/15yds 9.5mm s/steel bb knock it over ? It was a chest shot just got a plume of feathers and my boy laughing at me all that way back to the car lol :-(

    Yes I can imagine it won't be legal again shame they can't just class it as a firearm and licence accordingly yes I can only guess sneaking up on a roe getting within feet of your game before you take aim draw back and release what a feeling that must be truly stalking your game
