  1. Think viz is right about the scope mac, nowt fancy a good quality 3-9x40 on low or medium mounts to keep it close to the barrel
  2. For learning good technique can't beat a springer but for a novice and ease of use a pcp wins for me as its good for building confidence and gives a novice instant results
  3. Not much to go wrong with them and easy to work on if any thing does, used to have a .20 with a shrouded barrel built like a tank and as accurate as any pcp on the market wish I still had it
  4. still got 1 found it in my dads loft a few years ago
  5. I have pcp air rifles, rim fire rifle but still enjoy the simple pleasure of hunting with a springer, there's nothing feels as good as a well taken shot in the field with one, but I suppose a multi shot pcp is a useful tool at night no faffing about loading in the dark
  6. Would love 1 like that but in FAC flavour
  7. Have you tried defiants, my s410 loves 4.52 AA fields but I tried some sample packs from Bob Ruggles and found the smaller head size defiants performed as well
  8. This was a shore caught fish out of the river mouth guy was only 20 mtrs away from me at the time, also seen cod between 5 and 8lb on the pier this week, I'm off to Norway with 5 other guys in 4 weeks time looking forward to it cost about £450 each
  9. I had an old brummie webley stingray that loved these would stack pellets at 25/30 mtrs sold it and regretted it ever since
  10. Been out with the rod this last couple of weeks with sea being rough up here in the northeast and there's some nice cod being caught in the sunderland area best last night went over 10lb
  11. Sometimes fixed focus can be a godsend on an airgun set it an forget it no faffing about just aim and shoot
  12. Sorry guys neglected to mention changing mag setting will alter mill dot aim points but at high mag if the parallax is not set correctly parallax error can occur which will alter your point of impact
  13. I tend to use the same setup as you high mag during the day and low mag for low light but my mate shot 4x40 for years and took plenty vermin doing so
  14. Nothing wrong with nikko scopes had a few over the years always worked well for me, Nice gesture by the way mate
  15. Think I would have left the tin at the shop in the first instance, would not have bought them, used superfields a lot an never had any bad ones
  16. the front or side adjuster is the parellax the adjuster at the rear of the scope is to make the crosshairs clear and adjusting the parrallax should'nt alter the point of impact but will alter the mildot aim points
  17. Thanks Ian did you have both mounts behind the slot or did you manage to get 1 in front
  18. Anyone mounted a photon on a cz rimmy and can let me know how they managed, the only way I can see how is to have the 2 mounts together at the rear of ejector slot any help welcome
  19. Been and bought it after reading the positive posts, cocks and shoots ok just needs a tune to sort the dieseling out. It's a mk1 and there are no open sights on it now so it will need scoping up,Any views on what pellets to use as its not a popular calibre and apparently the BSA has a tight breach
  20. Been offered an old BSA superstar in ,25 flavour for £40 the bluing is a bit thin and its dieseling when fired so accuracy is erratic, I'm tempted but it needs a bit of work and not sure if I would use a .25. anyone used 25 and is the superstar an easy gun to strip and tune
  21. always buy my rimmy rounds in there the cheapest that i've found, mind some of their other stuff is a bit pricey
  22. I've just chased 2 hippo's and a crocodile out of the back garden
  23. Do you really need high mounts or could you get away with medium as I like the scope as close as possible to the barrel
  24. cheers for that could'nt find any adjustable mounts so ordered a pair of standard high mounts as the instruction manual said
  25. If it ain't red its dead
