Jack marking top hole, before I get him out and leaded up. I get down to business, have a listen I can hear Milly pushin on, give her some time and let her do her own thing after about 10 mins I can hear her bayin, not for long though as she was mixing it with her quarry. I had no shovel, my phone had just packed in so I couldn't ring my brother to bring the tools. Sit and wait job, sounded like she was doing O'k, grunting and pumping didn't want to spoil it or her, she sounded fine. :realmad: The fecking border wouldn't shut up, Jack spent his time trying to shag it as it' -
I'm going to post this on the Bedlington thread that I started but thought it was worthy of inclusion on it's own. Took the dog's out this morning for a stroll, went to a gulley where I knew there had been a litter earlier this year. The dog's bushed one straight away taking it up the gulley and away..... I push through the thick cover, hands and knees job for 5 mins anyways I get to the clearing and no sign of the terriers, can see the Lurcher hovering around further up the bank. a new earth at the bottom of a bank, Barney the big dog (Lurcher* Bedlington) is marking one

Invaluable tool imho, whether you work terriers of leads or on leads a Lurcher ( a good Lurcher) is a must. A. If you work terriers on leads and only walk straight to intended work, think of all the work you are missing on the way, chance encounters, new holes etc B. If you work them with terriers of leads and your terrier finds a new hole one which you didn't know about, how you gonna find it?? Can be a nightmare when, digging for all sorts of reasons, whining is the most annoying. bailing in over the top of you when you're close to breaking through, as Stabs already said.. over

I agree totally, it's a lil bit annoying when all breeds are classed as the same when we know there are good and bad in each. Owners who are happy with their Plummers, Bedlingtons, Teckel, Lucas, Sealyhams, Staffs whatever rare or minority breed they are.. and work them post some genuine pics on here for all to see Some lines will work, some will work after a fashion, some are blagged up as workers when clearly they are not... so yes... constructive criticism is always taken in the vein it was intentended. Taking the piss isn't I say give the genuine workers a chance before y

"One mans meat is another mans poison" What Project ? Each to their own and all that... I work Bedlingtons because I like em, not to prove anything or ressurect a dying breed, If I breed a litter then I do it for myself and interested mates. Good luck to all the nonconformists who stick with their working dogs whatever breed they are As long as they work and it suits you !!!!!! There's to many knockers in the working dog world... :search: it's outside of it you need to worry about... so stick together

My Lurcherbitch @ six months...
swanseajack replied to swanseajack's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Thanks for your comments all, just measured her and she's 21" at the shoulder, judging by the knuckle left on her and her age I'm hoping she'll make 23/24" She's strong boned and heavy in stature, but still retains a good deal of speed. As long as she's got the want I'm sure she'll be able to cope with most of the lil red un's. -
I am now the proud owner of a new pair of Danner Pronghorn Camohide GTX boots. Courtesy of Rig Equipment Ltd in Birmingham. http://www.rigequipment.co.uk/dprogcamo8.htm Over the next few months I will put these to the test and let you know my findings, initial thoughts are these are a well made boot and for £100.00 should be just the ticket for my early morning excursions..

Hell of a quote that ! How bad do you think we are....? Fecking breaking an unjust law that's all it is.. nowhere near any of the above which are all 'justified laws'.. What should have been said is Fly tipping, car tax dodging, non payment of council tax is illegal but still goes on....

Genetics I must be French I only answered the question as a generalisation of why anyone breeds 1/2 crosses. The answer being it's easier and suits a purpose..

Well done Stabs I got a funny story about a cat, as long as u don't mind me tagging on to ur thread.... To clean out the ferrets properly years go I'd put them in a 45 gallon drum whilst I emptied out the mess and put new shavings in. this one time I was doing it, there was a hell of a commotion going on behind the shed, dogs were going potty.. I go out and find them stretching this old cat that had been taking my father's pigeons, nice one anyway i get the dog's off lock em in and bury the cat. Trouble started when i got back into the ferrets, finished cleaning them out, I

He's out of a bitch I bred that went up to Halifax, bred back to a dog called Jake only one in litter that survived, my bitch was same lines as my others tango yogi etc. Dog had Toby/Poppy in lines.. He's a big lad @ 16 1/2" works well on top, got a nose like a hound, use him for bushing etc.. too big for earth work He's a good stamp for using over whippets, greys... to big for what I'd consider suitable for my liking...
