  1. Mainly fox as I don't do rabbits these days... On the speed question, I thought she was a bit slow at first and seemed to have a Lazy action.... then to my surprise she opened up behind a bolting bunny and showed herself in a different light.... The speed's there...... just need to get the right thing up and running in front of em.. before you see it... they're still young and need time to mature.....
  2. She's taking a lot more interest in what's going on around her now....
  3. Every year around this time new holes appear on exposed banks very similar to this one, I had seen three new ones this morning and only decided to take a pic of the last one. The hole is appx 2" perfectly round, and has a disproportionate amount of spoil outside and always a single hole that goes straight into bank. Any guesses to what would have created this.
  4. If it's just rabbit's your after, any terrier with a bit of leg on it.. short legged small types are slower, some can fit in the rabbit holes and are a pain... something with a bit of leg than can cover the ground and make a bit of noise.... me I'm biased and I'd say a Bedlington... but anything with a nose and a bit of go in it will do....
  5. Nielsen, hmmmmm! It was this pic that got me thinkin.... Are they BIG foxes or are u a short bloke Foxhunter?? Anyway good shooting, keep it up...
  6. To be honest, I haven't.... Yogi, retired is my oldest dog and he's Tango back to Rusty both were 3/4 bred. Jack was bred by a mate out of Yogi and a bitch from the same lines with Toby/Poppy in her lines. Milly is bred from Bron>Tango lines both sides with a Rambo bitch one side, and a Toby* the other.. Ranger is Bron>Tango>Hash back to a dog called Jake< Solo<Rambo.. I'd like to find out on here where most of the first litters are as I've lost contact with the owners. Saying that I have made contact with a lot.... now hopefully a few more... Head Stu
  7. Get yourself on ebay mate, there's alway books on dogs at half the original price... Go round the charity shops and car boot sales, you'd be surprised at what turns' up, when you've read em, put em on ebay... ps read any books on dog training, as every lil bit you learn adds up to better knowledge.. take it all with a pinch of salt, sort the wheat from the chaff, use what knowledge you gain to your own parameters....
  8. Glad you got out mate! Lucky it it didn't come on top with a car full of fallow Why you called LUCKY!!! ? :11:

  10. Excellent post that, thankyou for your time and information, it's not as expensive as I first thought Good luck with selling the young un's ! SJ
  11. Exempt Hunting, taken from Countryside alliance updated handbook. Exempt hunting activity under the Hunting Act might include: a. The use of 2 dogs to flush a wild mammal to be shot by a competent person if the purpose is to protect livestock or its food, game birds, crops, growing timber, fisheries, the biological diversity of an area or obtaining meat to be used for human or animal consumption. b. The use of 1 dog below ground to prevent damage to game birds that are being preserved for shooting. The wild mammal should be bolted and shot by a competent person. DEFRA has intimated
  12. :friends: Can I ask a question, perhaps you could answer it on here or start another thread. If a newbie to birds, wanted to start from scratch how much would the initial set up cost ? i.e. all the bits and bobs you'd need, the aviary, weekly feeding cost, day's out training etc etc.. Just a thought, I see that your youngsters are £350, what would a trained bird be... that is if owners sell on trained birds? I'm sure other readers would be interested, I am, but don't have enough time spare at the moment.. Cheers SJ.
  13. The Pro boots have had a good write up in this weeks CMW and for £50.00 seems reasonable. Pro boot tactical.
  14. If like me you are a bit slack and have got plenty of permission, but haven't got round to getting the landowners written permission here's a start for you.. Just a thought, hope it helps.. Taken from Countryside Alliance website. Name (applicant): ................................................................................ ............................ I (owner / occupier): ................................................................................ ........................ Address: ................................................................................ ..
  15. Milly, with Barney in the background pulling the fox clear of the hole. Once it was out Milly wasn't interested in it whatsoever, I let the others of to have a rag clear of the hole and she just stood back and watched them..
  16. Jack giving Milly the once over... It's his turn next
  17. Here's an update for the readers that have been following this thread.. We still have a lot of interest and hopefully with new members registering to the site every day we will have some more Bedlington posts, pics etc posted on here. I've had some interesting PM's and hopefully these lads will post their info for all to see. C'mon lads the season's on us and I'm sure there are some of you itching to put up some pics... Had my first fox to ground for this season with Milly and have posted details on another thread 1st Fox to ground with my BEDLINGTON. She did me proud and
  18. Nice one, keep us posted and put up some pics... Here's the bitch this weekend.
  19. Here she is again, listening to the terriers working cover, when the day comes and it all gels together I'm sure she won't let me down.
  20. I've always taken mine out whenever they're ready to tag along, wouldn't enter them to early on the hard work, and not really bothered about lamping just yet. Let them get used to being out in the field and surroundings, all the different smells, noises, stock etc.. When they are ready you'll know. Young bitch I got at the mo has chased a few rabbits, very keen on hunting up with the terriers but loves to play.... so I just let her do her own thing... She was all keyed up at the weekend and showing an interest in the mark, when I got the fox out she didn't want to know, had a s
  21. If you hadn’t noticed Winter’s nearly here lads and lasses, Hunting, shooting, Lurcher and Terrier work. Take a closer look at some of the pics posted on here you will see a lot of short boots, sloppy welly’s, trainers etc only one pair of feet you have and they should last a lifetime, if you value your feet then give them some comfort (£20.00 feet = £20.00 boots) treat them like you’d treat your dog’s. A must for a night’s lamping or a day out with the terriers is a sturdy pair of boots to keep your feet dry, warm, and above all ones that will support your feet
  22. As it happens, the 'lurcher' is the ugliest dog on the planet :11: he was an accidental mating and is getting on a bit now, however, he works, and works hard marks to ground and pushes cover, sometimes managing to catch the odd red one... wouldn't be without him as part of my team, even though he doesn't belong to me.... Here he is below...
  23. Thanks for all your comments lads, bitch is fine this morning, (lil bit swollen), so much so she's been out again, nothin like a bit of wet grass and pushin cover to get the wounds clean..
