I read most of the terrier articles on here and quite a lot of the time I see you lads using Border/Lakies, Pat/Lakies and even Russell/Pats..... Sometimes I raise an eyebrow and think to myself why, why cross a 'good' pat with a Russell.... I'm not knocking anyone's decision to do this I'm just asking a question, why would you want to do it, what are the long term goals in producing such offspring ??? I seen quotes such as 'Border/Lakeland best terrier Ive ever owned' .......'kept a strain of border cross Russells for years'.... A lot of this has been touched on in various th

made me laugh... A lot of shit is bred by wannabee's, a lot of shit is passed on as 'working' by the money mongers to wannabees, who say this dog is out of so and so breeding, then they breed this non working shit passing it of because of the names in the lines,,, good genuine terrier are NOT sold by good genuine Terriermen why would they ?????? I know this because I've personally witnessed it over the years, I know it because I witnessed it a few weeks ago, whereby a youngster travelled some miles to buy a working dog (|Russell type-Showy, couple of teeth missing) bought it f

the name needs to relate to what the overall business is, by that I mean I wouldnt go into a shooting shop for fishing equipment... If the bulk of your business is shooting then any of the shooting names would suffice, but if you want to attract passing trade etc it needs to be huntershop, methinks.... hunt-shoot-fish.com Do I win a pair of Danner or Meindl waterproof boots for my advice, size 10.5 please I'll pm you my address

Coco, why do they call you that I'll have to give you some more lessons in computers mate... Tag would look a bit like Freddy, they got the same sire I might have problems with the pup Coco (named after you) seems like he wants to go to ground even now, had to pull him out... this is him last Sunday when Tag was in the ground on another fox in the same set as I told you ... and he flies through cover.. after Milly and Tag.. hope he don't bump into a lil red one before his teeth and jaw developes...

Here's a question for all of you Lurcher owners whether you're into Bedlingtons or not... ?? Not so much contraversial as it may sound, but will probably rock the boat.. Which would you use as a stud for your bitch and why ?? A. An under 16" dog that has regularly been dug too, tried and tested as it were... B. An over 16" dog that works the bush to varying degrees and may be able to catch the odd rabbit or two, never been tried for it's pluck or working ability as it's way to big to get to ground... My take on it is this, years back when there were a few 'good

It cant catch rabbits with any regularity, it's WAY to big at 18 1/2" for fox work... the only credit you can give the dogs is that they are not very good at anything in particular... or are they ??? i did'nt get a beddy to use for foxing it does'nt flick my switch! i dont really care what anyone says, if i want to lamp my beddy i will and its as simple as that! everyone is entitled to there own opinon, but some folk have to get abusive with it too! You have every right to do what you want with your dog, that's your perogative... I'm not being abusive just asking a simple question,

I must be on grumpy pills or summit else, as every time I come on here something or someone get's my back up, whether it's that's time of year, the weather, lack of anything interesting going on in my life I don't know... If I've replied to anyone's posts and annoyed them I apologize... if I've got someone's back up I apologize again... I think I will refrain from posting on here for a while, until I can add something constuctive or interesting.... Keep hunting you genuine people, let's see some good posts up for a change.. all the others looking for opinions on what you think is righ

missing the good old days (fox)
swanseajack replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Why the whistle you obviously shot it, as you wouldn't really be running an out of condition bitch that's just had pups... and the one behind it was shot as well I guess ?? Good shooting.. don't see the point in the pic though... -
Holy god not a bit of wonder the dog market is full of rubbish with statements like that. Its a fu**ing PET. if you had the choice what would you breed from. A a well bred but untried ( pet ) or B a good worker with unknown pedigree ??????????????? are you serious??? holy fcuk this thread is seriously finding a few interweb hunters! lol Workerxworker every time here we go again... worker to worker everytime.. best dog you ever had was/is a border cross lakeland.. how did the pups turn out if you dont mind me asking ?? be careful how you answer this one

Perhaps he's fallen in his ditch...

Excellent post p***y// If the lines of the dog are spot on, as you say they are, and you want to keep your own tried and tested lines.. then I'd use it first, by first I mean rather than use some 1/2 bred dog that works but might have been bred out of shite.. and if you're not passing them of as 'workers' for money then you have nothing to lose but your own time and experience... good luck whatever direction you go !!
