  1. You're not hijacking the thread mate, it's here to discuss Bedlingtons, I wish more people would post on here and get more pics up... in response to your question, the pup I have, I have already hand stripped him to get the coat neat, I took all the long hair of him by hand a while back now, during the summer I just cut them back with a pair of scissors nothing fancy just trim it short (try not to nick them-they dont like it ) during the winter give them plenty of work, getting in tight in earths normally releases any loose flimsy hairs. bushing in tight brambles works too... keep s
  2. Thanks for your opinions lads, will let you know what happens over the next couple of days.... Here's a task for anyone that wants to take it up, Maybe Topper could organise it... The Heart of Wales show is next weekend, apparently it's the show that is actively promoting 'Working Bedlingtons' so hopefully there will be a good turnout of typey working stock there.. I can't make it, although I would really like to be there to see what's on offer... Anyone got a good camera, anyone handy enough to make a board with lines in inches on it in grid form... marking it at the 14" to 19"

  7. You're right, I have said I wasn't 100% convinced by him, he hadn't done anything wrong, bit on the lazy/slow side. He Killed a bitch pup I had, got some tempermental issues which seem to be getting better as he gets older, but to date he hasn't failed ie he does his job and does it well, works exactly like Milly, up and at em and mixing it... similar breeding, dam same, Yogi's his sire...I don't think I'd have any issues or worries about size as they're pretty much level.... I know he's still a young dog but my options are limited as you know, do I wait another season, I seen enough fro
  8. Perhaps I will not have to travel to far I know his breeding, I know what he works like and yes he does 'work'................ What you reckon ??
  9. Cheers for your opinion Gaz, always appreciated.. I agree with you in as much as there probably are some good Bedlingtons of the right type and substance that dont get the chance they deserve, I also believe there are some out there that are getting dug to by lads that A. Don't use the internet B. Dont want the publicity of having a digging Bedlington.. As you say most lads use black dogs and the like, and use tried and tested stock.. the outcross with other breeds of terriers has been done to death and if i do it again the beddy will be so far removed from what it should be i may as well kee

  18. spotted this a few times, today was the first time I've managed to take some pics... been having a bit of a debate with my father as he's been saying it's an eagle of some sort ( he sees it all the time) now my opinion has been, I'll eat my hat if it's anything other than a Buzzard... Take a look for yourself, I don't want guesses as to what it is I want an informed opinion from those that know... ps it's a damm sight bigger than any of the buzzards around here... Any thoughts anyone ???
  19. Hi Terrier man, I come from Enghland originaly near Patterdale. All dogs breeds are the result of cross breeding, Manchester terrier/ patterdale/cairn /jack s/yorkshire/bedeale/parsons . Do You have a problem with hybrid vigor or trying to get the best of both breeds. No tyhe dog did,nt just get the bitch, as It says "DESIGNER" I could have called them "Navan Terriers" or even "Meath Terriers " or even "Leinster Terriers" or how about "Cairn Russells" I have one ordered to America at a lot more than the hefty price tag, If they are worth having they are worth paying for. Bothb Dog and
