  1. I wasn't a keeper, but yeh, it's all about getting the kids involved really, their short on reasons to justify their existence, because most of the animals they keep will never be part of a conservation project.........so they really push the education side of things........ But saying that, the place I was at was very commercial......it was a business, plain & simple, investment was for long term profit........for example......purchasing a Rhino for maybe £60,000 from an African game reserve, then shipping back to England, to live in a relatively small enclosure.......I feel that's hard
  2. At least you've found a good home for him mate, to be fair, you'd be pretty unlucky if you had the same situation again..........& it will be good training another bird :-)
  3. I totally agree..........it's only cause it's something like a giraffe, that people suddenly find a conscience
  4. I worked at a top end zoo for 10 years, you'd be amazed at what goes on, we just don't always hear about it or care, because the animal is not high profile enough........
  5. I'm not a fan of cast flying so I'm biased :-) but this could happen with the next bird, so what would you do then mate? You catch more on your own anyway :-) But good luck with what ever you do though mate
  6. If it was a baboon no one would give a fcuk, no matter how rare............different levels of sentiment depending on the species.
  7. That also highlights the importance of knowing the background of your base stock regardless of ability, we had a bitch several years ago, that work wise was the full package, nose, gameness etc, historically we knew nothing much about her breeding.........regardless of what stud we used with her, she never produced anything of note
  8. I was thinking on the Swazi tahar anorak, how good are they? & how hard wearing are they?
  9. I think your right in some cases, but that's local knowledge, as a young man, all my poaching was local & Im sure most farmers knew exactly who I was............but I've read on here, some lads doing 200mile in a night lol,to counter act that, must be nigh on impossible
  10. I don't really get it............why take him in the first place, then decide you don't like the look of him........surely there must be more to it than that?
  11. Saturday night, Sunday morning
  12. Just out of interest foxdropper, do you feel you improved on that original stock, on both ability & conformation? & How closely do your dogs now resemble those originals?
  13. Good point here, I just don't think culling is as prevalent in the dog game as people like to think..........we hear a lot of talk on here about how genuine terrier men gift their pups, this may be true, but I think the vast majority still sell on pups/unwanted stock..........I don't know a huge amount about line breeding, but I know a lot of inferior stock is still put out there by 'genuine terrier men'. Surely culling must be as important as the choice of breeding for a consistent line?
  14. It is possible mate, in my younger days of mixing drink with drugs, I suffered a few blackouts which lasted several hours, one in particular, I went to a nightclub & back to 2 separate house parties in one night & don't recall any of it..............

What are you flying mate? First 4 seasons flying a harris I never used it once, & I'd bought a full Marshall kit costing me about £700 at the time.........I've bought a couple of things from FE & they are great to deal with, I think his full system would be well worth a try.
  16. I think you will find the CPS won't bother with more than you think, especially rape case's, my niece was raped 2 years ago by her mates husband, the cps didn't want to know, the police told her it wasn't uncommon, those cases are so hard to prove, they often won't bother unless the evidence is really good. That's terrible matey, can you not bring a private prosecution.? He will be privately prosecuted one day mate :-) In fact you could see their point, because in my nieces case, there was just very little evidence, he said it was with consent & his wife was in the house! She had no

  18. Actually I think if Savile had gone to court, there is a good chance he would of been found not guilty, cos it probably would of been their word against his, unless there was better evidence........food for thought

  20. I would of been off to canada if hadn't of got married & came here............given opportunity to renovate a house for 4-6weeks, flights & accommodation paid for :-).........it seemed fcuking mental to be turning it down :-( but that's life.........good luck it's a great country
  21. Unfortunately I've never had a dog for hawking, but I've got 3 friends who use vizslas & 1 who uses a GWP........these guys wouldn't look at anything else........the GWP is awesome!
